My only concern with keeping Wilks as HC…

Ron Rivera benched an MVP over a tie and immediately got embarrassed by Derek Anderson. Sean McDermott was a huge part of our run of success in that time frame and the results after he left speak volumes. Raise the bar.

So a player is allowed to be above team rules huh?

I think all of our speculation about this guy or that guy being the coach is fruitless.  As Jon Snow said, we don't have a vote.  But the man who does has clearly laid out his mindset on everything.  I think this time he is going to dive fully into it.  Rhule was hired because he believed in analytics and Tepper let Marty and others influence his decision.  He probably won't do that again.  Tepper is an investor,  he stresses the importance of Analytics, and he plays the odds with investing.  So I believe he has someone in that office running spreadsheets and probabilities of success for different parameters of coaches, beyond just offensive or defensive-minded.  He will trust the odds more than his gut or someone else.  Things like the success rate of 1st-time head coaches to win super B owls, the success of coordinators based on years of the job, retread coaches who never won a superb owl with the first team, and probably many other parameters.  When you look at it through Tepper's mind, it probably looks a lot more clear than our I want this guy because he did well this year.  He probably already has a list of qualifications that must be met.  So Bill Belichick, John Fox, Andy Reid, Tom Coughlin, Tony Dungy, Bruce Arians, and Pete Carroll are all retread head coaches who didn't win it all at the previous teams and will push the probability up for a retread over a 1st-year coordinator, coordinator with years of experience, a college coach, and any previous superb owl winning coaches.  So I believe the list will include guys most will not like, and Wilkes is one of them.  Maybe Reich as well, but I wouldn't get my hopes up that some first-year successful coordinator is going to be here, nor will Sean Payton, who previously won one.  Analytics will probably show a low to zero probability for most parameters.  So unless he totally abandons his analytic investor mindset, the list is probably going to be short.   With the way the team is responding to him, Wilkes just might be the front-runner in this.

It really depends on the rule and how the player broke it. If he was dressed up as asked but simply missing a tie then it’s pretty stupid to bench your MVP QB over that. It was pure negligence and the player in violation doesn’t care then yeah you should take disciplinary actions. That’s just my personal opinion though. Cam doesn’t seem like the type to ever intentionally break a team rule or be disrespectful.

Benching good players over dumb rules like that can cause locker room issues. We came out flat that game and it wasn’t a coincidence. UT got into it about one of their defensive leaders (Banks) stepping on the “T” in the locker room and it blew up causing a suspension and the defense allowing Rattler to crush them.

anyone that says "superb owl" has zero credibility

I don't care about my credibility with you, but I am also not shocked when Tepper makes a decision.  You guys get mad and hate what you see.  But you view it from your mentality, not his.  He will continue to make his decisions based on what he trusts and had success with.  But that is going to annoy a lot of people

Let us look at Tepper and the team's decisions regarding QB.  Tepper has said for years that QB is the top priority for this franchise.  Yet in all the drafts since he owned the team, the panthers have yet to draft a first-round QB.  Passing on Fields, and others.  They signed Teddy, traded for Darnold, tried to trade for Watson and Stafford, and traded for Baker.  Those draft picks could have been used to trade up to get someone in the draft.  So do not be mad or shocked if they trade back or draft another position in the first during this draft.  If getting a QB was priority 1, why would you not try to get one of the top QBs each year like the Jets, Browns, and all the other perennial bad teams do, with the Jets probably in the market to draft another this year after benching Wilson today.   What other explanation can it be?  Unless his analytics tell him it is not highly probable for success.  I will not be shocked but this place will explode if they pass on Young or Stroud this year.  Tepper mentions QB in his press conferences all the time, but when talking about the previous choices at QB, he said the picks are valuable and need to be carefully used.  But he didn't say the decision to pick up a QB already in the league was a bad choice.  Just as he didn't say they should have used those picks to trade up instead.  So I know you guys hate the thought but I will not be shocked if it happens.  And if everyone quits on the Panthers, he wins again.  He will try to move them to a bigger market increasing his value.  He is a businessman and the panthers are his business now.  So expecting him to not use the analytics and expecting him to ask people with football knowledge to help him pick a coach is probably not likely.  He will rely on his process whether we as fans like it or not

Man I appreciate the optimism but I can think of more reasons not to keep Wilks than keep him. The way I look at it, zero teams would be brining Wilks in for an interview this year. So... Why would we? Because he's a local guy with ties to the Rivera coaching regime? Doesn't make sense to me.
