All aboard the Wilks Wagon

Wilks got the Rhule stink off this team in a short amount of time. Bravo for that! But we had talent, and are just now at least performing more-or-less like we thought we would be playing (.500 ball). The team is absolutely playing better for Wilks but is because of Wilks...or just removing Rhule? Hard to say yet. Let re-evaluate at the end of the season and see how we do against the rest of the cellar dwellers we play.

I for one would be cool with keeping Wilks as HC and bringing Reich in as OC if that is a possibility.

I think Wilks has done a very commendable job thus far, stepping into a 1-5 team that had just traded away their best player.  Anyone that has ever held a significant leadership role knows how easy it would be for both the coach and the players to basically play out the string.  It takes someone who truly can connect with and inspire the players to keep them going after such a horrid start, both on and off the field.

Do I think he is the best HC choice?  I don't know.  I agree everything needs to be readdressed at the end of the season, but Wilks certainly wouldn't be the worst choice.

I'm sure there is a lot of revisionist history now, but very, very few people thought that Mike Tomlin would be a worthy successor to Bill Cowher, but having the benefit of hindsight, Tomlin was not only a worthy successor but overall has probably been the better coach.

Just like getting a franchise QB, there is no magic pathway to getting the right Head Coach.

Wilks was never given a fair shake in Arizona.  There is no "fair" per se in professional sports, but there is no one I can think of as being more deserving of another legitimate chance of leading an NFL team more than Wilks.

This is Wilks' dream job.  There are very few candidates you could truly say that for.  The Panthers were never Rhule's ultimate destination.  As a fan, it's not the most important thing, winning is, but it does matter.

Wilks has a vision for this team for this team's identity, is 100% dedicated to this team, and is dedicated to bringing this fanbase back the stadium experience we deserve.  My last 3 home games have been fun.  It's been a long time since I could say that.

Carolina is in Wilks' blood, just like it is for us here.  I hope it works out.  He is a leader of men, and he genuinely cares about Carolina Panthers beyond just his resume.

I would like to see Wilks remain as the Panthers head coach and bring in the best offensive and defensive coordinators as well as assistants that money can buy.

Tepper has the money, so now is the time to spend it to help make the Panthers a playoff caliber team..

I dont want payton, but i came up with an idea. Hire _____ as the HC and payton as the OC..... behind the doors, its payton whos making the HC decisions. That means no giving the iants picks as well, cause hes not the HC.

That is great thinking outside the box. However, my guess is Payton likes the glory and attention of being "The Man" and wouldn't go for that type of a deal.

I think HCs are more involved with QBs than you are stating.  Sure different staffs are structured differently, but a HC (especially an offensive minded one) is going to be constantly checking in with his QB, meeting with him, and getting his input.  Some design offenses strictly based on what kind of QB they have on their roster.  If you don't think that plays in the development of a QB, I guess we just have a difference of opinion there.

I get your perspective and I wont push back on that notion. HC still offer insights and mentorship, I just dont see them being the direct contributor to a QBs growth. There are more of a supporting factor but not the driver.

100%

We need an OC that can utilize our talent to the best we can.  Our DC has done a great job minus the Cincinnati game.  We nearly shut down L. Jackson and hopefully we'll continue our success against Seattle.

3-4 since the firing of Rhule and trading CMC should be a great indicator considering he kept McAdoo to at least give us a chance.  Firing him now would not have helped get any wins.

I am not fully onboard with the Rivera/Fox comparison.  Let Wilks have a full season with an OC of his choice and then we can decide who to compare him with.  Get a good OC and we might want to compare him to Salah in NYJ.

    • Do you still smoke? It is time to quit. You know smoking can hurt your lungs, but did you know it can harm your eyes? Long-term smokers have a higher risk of developing eye diseases. If you quit, then your risk is reduced for developing cataracts or damage to the optic nerves. You should always be aware of any eye conditions that exist within your family tree. Proper medical care may be necessary for hereditary conditions. Talk to your elders about your family history. Don't stare at the computer screen too long. You can end up with issues like eyestrain, blurriness, headaches, dry eyes, and decreased distance focus. Try taking breaks every 20 minutes or so by looking 20 feet away from the screen for about 20 seconds. This can help you rest and re-focus your eyes to reduce or prevent those eye issues. • You’re saying that because you don’t value the position - I disagree considering our scheme and how the NfL is these days.  If people are serious about BPA then trust the process—and these are the talents to consider.
    • Yep, just what I thought. Martin and rookies.  I’m sure they will play hard but it’s all about rest and not getting our big guns hurt. Treating it like a glorified preseason game.
