This thread stiiiiiiiiinks. The kid is 21 and the whole team plays better when he’s distributing. Prime Steph or KD on wouldn’t make this group into contenders but you’re ready to write off the most talented player in the team’s history? Because he can’t Lebron a bottom barrel squad into the Finals singlehandedly? Good grief.

I honestly think it's still angst from Rhule's time here combined with the shitty offseason the Hornets put together.  Hiring back a loser coach we fired, punting the 13th pick, and signing no one really stunk things up for the fanbase.  Then Rhule destroying the culture and running our football franchise into the ground while being brought back for a 3rd srason he shouldn't have even sniffed because we all knew he was in over his head...  Us as fans, knowing both our football and basketball teams were going into shitty seasons because of shitty leadership and piss poor decisions by our front offices really bubbled up a ton of apathy, anger, and venom towards our teams.  A lot of our respective fanbases have never felt more hopeless.  I think that's where it's coming from.

You should be grateful to have him, imo, because it's one of those things where you don't know what you have until it's gone.  Melo is charismatic, a young star, and the straw that stirs the drink kind of guy who other players love to play with...  you want him here.  Now, if we could just get the talent around him to allow him to fully play to his potential.  And don't hold your breath for Victor W...  even if we finish dead last, the NBA is not giving us that top pick.  It'll be another Anthony Davis situation.  They'll find another franchise that has a more favorable FO and coach in place where he'll get more exposure.

And finally, look at Giannis' and Lebron's history with Melo.  That tells you all you need to know about what his peers consider him.  He needs fuging help.  Period.

 

How are you using Magic here? Ball is no Magic.  Why is he even being compared to any of the greats? Kemba Walker was better.  Hell Kemba got us to the playoffs with the same coach we are seeing now.  Hell Gerald Wallace was better. Baron Davis was better.  Ball ranks about 19th on the best Hornets list if that.

Using Kemba to crap on LaMelo? Kemba didn't even start averaging 20 points until his 5th season and Ball is already doing that in his third season. OP is like Scott Fowler on the night we drafted LaMelo and then kicked up several more notches. The way this franchise is mismanaged Ball may not even want to stick around so you're wasting energy hating on him.

No hate, just being honest.  He's a mid tier star,  and the best we can be with him headlining is average.  Great 3rd scoring option and highlight distributor on a championship team, but he shouldn't be THE GUY.

You understand If we suck hard enough this year he will be "co-headlining" with another really good player. You don't win with one really good player. You need multiple.  Trading him would be beyond idiotic.

      And the hits keep coming, Luvu who had 2.5 sacks and int last week went on the The 33rd Team and said he wished he had played under Quinn for his entire 7 year career. Things have to change here.

      What FA blunders? We paid Kalil $31M for mediocre to bad results. Short was a good deal as we got good output during the guarantee. The problem was that Marty came back and let him keep playing and getting diminishing results and injuries. He was correct on Olsen and Marty just gifted him more money when he was hurt and he never was close to the same. Josh Norman was a bit of a fiasco but honestly, he sure didn’t look worth the money and he never came close to 2015 again. Other than that, all I recall is cheap dumpster diving. Trai Turner was extended by Marty. I know DG wasn’t a good GM but Marty spent like a drunken sailor as soon as he came back. We paid Teddy as much for one season as we paid for all years of Matt Kalil. Totaling up the FA spending from 2018 to 2020 with Marty 2.0 far exceeded what DG did. As to the drafts, it’s funny that 2017, Dave’s last draft with us was his best. CMC, Moton, Samuel and Butker is the best we’ve done since, geez, probably close to 20 years we’d have to go back. It doesn’t make up for the rest of the draft mistakes but it’s funny that his last draft was his best with us and it shows what we’ve done wrong since only 1 player is actually still on the team.

      Me either on the freaking out part, none of that please. No big move on the personnel side is going to un-fug what they have done and what came before.  It's just obvious Evero is out here either way here, they already blocked him and he can't be happy right now ruining his career while he isn't turning this around. That's a dead man waiting already, fair or unfair he is getting scapegoated at some point looking at all the angles on this trajectory. It's likely to buy DC and DM time but I would just be happy doing that soon vs then to get started at evaluations from another angle. Just getting a little more out of what is here would be a win, like miniscule or just noticeable change. A well run no talent D would be a positive change IMO. He wasn't installing his D well when people were healthy. They had one good series on Sunday and then it looked like no talent mixed with bad coaching the rest of the time with guys dropping along the way.  And I'm embracing the suck regardless. I can say what I want to see but I fully expect it to stay in the suck until it stops. I am done with optimism when it comes to the Panthers until who knows when. Sorry if I gave those vibes but I would love to burn that house down, drown the ashes in bleach and let someone else build anything else in it's place.
