Lose when it matters, win when it doesn’t

How many top 5 pick QBs are going to be in the playoffs this year?

It doesn't matter if they're top 5 pick QBs or not. It's about being in the best position available to bring the right players to your team. You think Texans fans are cheering their heads off because they won today, or are they lamenting the fact that they now have the 2nd choice of QBs? The win matters only in the fact that it can hurt you overall. Realizing that moral victories don't help the franchise doesn't make you less of a fan. It just means you recognize that a single win is can be the difference between drafting Peyton Manning vs Ryan Leaf.

What is sad is a franchise whose fans argue and fight over draft position and losing. I hope we can get back back to playoff ball and meaningful games in January. We made some headway this year and hopefully we can continue the momentum next year. Good finish even though it didn't really increase Wilkes chances or show Darnold in a positive light other than a late drive to win the game.

For some teams out there, that is enough, though.

Better to win than to lose.

Especially when it doesn't make much difference draft-wise.

That 1 spot, 2 spot, 3 spot difference has been huge in the past and why we wallow in misery.

What's "huge" in the past may not be huge in the future, though.

We don't know how draft picks will pan out until they do OR DON'T.

It's always a guessing game and hoping we  hit and others don't.

You have to be in position to get the guy you want. Especially a franchise QB. Sure they may not work out but we are going nowhere if we don’t even get a chance to pick one. That late season W moral victory at Washington 100% cost us Herbert.

you’re right, because nothing is guaranteed it’s better to pick later in the draft

Can you predict the future, Nostradamus?

Can you predict what picks will pan out and what picks won't?

No you can't.

That's my whole point.   Jesus Christ, Mr. Sarcasm.

I can predict that more players drafted high will be better than players drafted low

Idk why people try so hard to swim upstream against this absurdly mundane fact
