And all 3 of them have constant rumors about them considering retirement after almost every season.

It's also pretty rare for coaches to still be doing it into their 70's as well, not to mention those are 3 coaches who have all won SB's as HC's.

Your'e really trying to compare Reich to 3 sure fire HOFers?!?!?!

C'mon now

It’s also even more rare that a coach is at the same place for more than 10 years.  And yes, they won SuperBowl’s. But I still can’t get anyone to give me a yea or no answer if they won a championship at their first stop.

Something tells me you haven't done your research.

Uh, its proven fact he was fired from those three teams and all three were wildly underperforming/bad offenses. But since you apparently don't know:

Reich fired from the Colts:

Reich fired from the Bolts:

It is about the right fit...sometimes just the right time at the right place.  Like I said before, if Reich is the one...not the sexy hire but I will hope for the best.  He is smart. His 1st gig as HC was in an organization with a drugged out crazy man as an owner. Makes Tepper look pretty good.  I want to see Fitt and Morgan get to run a real GM office.

It would be a cool thing that he was our 1st QB...but of course not why he gets the job.  He has family here so likely would be a preferred destination for him.  Heck, his daughter now works for the Panthers.

A place he would like to be, a chance to write his story.  Might just be the right fit. I do see him improving the team, developing a QB and dare I say...getting b2b winning seasons. Step 1.

No coach has won a championship with two teams as a head coach.

So if Reich or Wilks are hired guess will see everyone back here in 1 or 2 years.
If it is either Reich or Wilks it needs to be on the low end contract.
Like 3 year 5 mill per.

What does the value of his contract have anything to do with anything?

Are you Daves accountant?

Not happening. Reich blows.

He blows so hard that he took the corpse of Phillip Rivers and made the playoffs, almost made the playoffs with Carson Wentz before he became Carson Wentz, and had the corpse of Matt Ryan at 3-3-1 before Irsay got involved.

But yea man, keep blowing smoke up your own ass, see you in a year when we're hosting a playoff game.

Reich is 61, Steichen is 37... don't tell me Reich was "literally Steichen 5 years ago" when 5 years ago Reich was still almost 20 years older than Steichen is right now.  Steichen was an OC when he was 34, Reich wasn't an OC until his mid 50's.

So sure, Reich was an OC on a SB winning team, but that still gives Steichen a 20 year head start over him right now, and could get that same SB this year.

Literally that's all you need to say for me to not like Reich over Steichen.

Why are we hiring someone who has max 10 years left in their career?!?!  It's one of my biggest issues with the idea of Payton as well.

You hire Steichen and things go well, we don't need to look for a new HC for at least 20 years.  I thought Tepper wanted to be more like the Steelers, well the Steelers have only had what, 3 coaches in the last 60 years or something?

Reich was still passing footballs at 34.. he actually was the QB for our Carolina Panthers at 34..

People do need to stop using the "he didn't have a QB" excuse with Reich though, since he wasn't some innocent bystander in that. He stumped for his bible-buddy Wentz and caused the Colts to give up a 1st and 3rd there, then had to apologize so as not to get canned immediately for it.

“According to Zak Keefer of The Athletic, Reich apologized to Irsay after having lobbied to get the 2017 Pro Bowler with the idea he "could resurrect Wentz's stalled career and solve the Colts' quarterback conundrum."ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday the Colts are trading Wentz to the Washington Commanders.”

Just wow. That is Rhule level of ineptitude.
We’re gonna end up with Carr and his 40 million dollar cap aren’t we?

I have no issue with a re-tread, so the whole "didn't win a SB at their first stop" thing doesn't bother me at all.

And just because something is rare, doesn't mean it isn't something to strive for.

The most successful coaches are with their teams for 10+ years, so why would we not want to shoot for that?

It would be like saying, sure, I could make a million dollars this year if I really try for it, but not a lot of people do that, so I'm going to settle for an average salary this year instead.  It might get you by for the year, but you're not going to be living your best life.

This is the NFL, if you don't compete for SB's, then you're not doing well enough, nobody wants to be an above average team every year, you want to win championships.

And I just don't see Reich as the hire to win championships, it's the hire to compete for division titles, hardly something to get excited over.
