Big fan of both QBs. They're the two most fun to watch QBs in the league right now IMO.

The officiating was trash and slanted towards KC. It just was.

Perhaps. All I can tell you is that I saw Chiefs players bring held on lots of plays also.

I can accept that.

What I cant accept is there is some Bilderberg/Illuminati level casino cabal pulling the strings to engineer a given outcome.

Yesterday was simply incompetence

I don't know about any conspiracies or game fixing, all I know is that I saw two extremely poorly officiated games yesterday with the home town teams getting some serious home town cooking.

If the NFL would ever actually hold officials accountable for atrocious performances it would go a long way toward dispelling with the tin foil.

Fans want it both ways.  Incompetent maybe, but not rigged.  I damn well know if the Panthers lost a game by a close margin because they went 3-and-out on one of their drives where the playclock was inadvertently running when it shouldn't have been, fans on here would be furious that it wasn't corrected

I've stated before, and will state again, that I don't believe the NFL is rigged.

This particular incident though was an example of absolutely gross incompetence. It easily goes down as one of the worst things I've seen in over fifty years of watching football.

I won't be at all surprised if somebody is fired over it. You could make a pretty good argument that somebody should be.

There is a difference between "rigged", meaning the entire game is predetermined, and "nudged", meaning the NFL attempts to influence the outcome. The NFL is not "rigged" so to say. The NFL is, however, 100% influencing games for their own reasons, whatever they may be.

Tim Donaghy proved that a professional sports league (the NBA) would willingly influence games. He claimed the NBA put out memos to referee certain players differently than others. The fans don't pay money to come see a game and see a star player on the bench. Players like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, are officiated differently than regular lower level players.

The NFL works the same way. Advantages are given to star players and marketable teams. Preferred storylines to create media coverage will be nudged.

The NFL doesn't write the script. But they are making edits.

The problem is none of the calls, or no-calls, led to points or lack thereof, with exception of the unnecessary roughness at the end of the game, which was absolutely the right call.

The holding on this play in particular, was terrible. Trey and Reader were legitimately hooked and Pat also had a grounding call that ended up not even being looked at, yet Burrow had one near his endzone with perine closer than anyone was near mahomes. The whole overview of the game was home cooking. Headlined by the debacle. I’d feel cheated if I were Cin.

The rules are clear.

As clear as the muddy Mississippi RIver.

The actual circumstances that led to the rules being enforced were obvious and clear and clear as well.

Okay.

Both those instances were textbook examples of the correct calls being made.

Wrong. The ref announcing the "game clock and play clock will start on my signal" is the exact opposite of what the rule reads and does not match his post-game comments regarding the same play.

same head ref last night was the on the crew blasted in the Super Bowl as the Rams got aided on that final drive with that Kupp PI call in the closing minutes.  Which had host of NFL WRs claiming it bogus flag you can't throw.

Refs can determine outcomes with their bad calls.  We have seen that admitted to at least. And when you put the same guys repeatedly on the field and it keeps happening......and you are okay with it.  It gets harder to dismiss.

and then the league responds that they can't afford to move on from their part time ref crew, can't afford tech, and can't alter rules to make more things reviewable.  I still think you should have 2 challenges per game.  And anything should be reviewable with them.

yeah, the Bengals intentional grounding was bogus.   I mean, the ball lliterally bounced into the hands of the guy covering Perine.

Yep. SB50 and opening day of 2016 forever altered my view of NFL officiating. Blows to the head of the QB was supposed to be THE focus for refs that year. There was quite a bit of uproar in the immediate aftermath of SB50 about the uncalled blatantly illegal hits on Cam. The NFL had to see it. You would've expected those officials to have gotten reamed and face some repercussions even if they weren't made public. But the fact that the same damn thing happened a few months later shows there was no such readings or repercussions and evidently the NFL was perfectly fine with the way things transpired.

    • I know you’re upset about today’s UNC loss, but if you insult my team I’m coming back at you… VT Football has won the ACC football title FOUR times, including in their 1st year. VT Basketball won the ACC title in 2022 and we beat UNC and Duke in the process. Miami has some huge creds too, so I don’t understand why you’d suggest those programs are dragging down the ACC either.  They aren’t.  The ACC needs to get out of it’s own way.
