they are stacked at talent because they get the most talented people...including QB. people say that there's no way stroud would have been as productive without those elite WRS, but would they be seen as so elite without stroud throwing them the ball? i mean i think they both made each other look good, but they were really good to begin with.

what we saw of stroud in the game with GA was what he looks like when he doesn't have those elite WRs and he still looked really good, in fact he looked the best and most complete that he has all year. he put that team on his shoulders the way you want a QB to. the only problem was the defense and special teams let him down, but make no mistake....he did everything he could possibly do to win.

that loss wasn't on him. they had a chance to win it at the end because he was carrying them. to me, that game proved why he should be drafted in the top 3-5 spots.

Linville put it well. Being on a stacked team just makes it harder to evaluate how much credit goes to the QB. It’s just harder to evaluate.

But that’s what needs to be done.

I think it’s easier to evaluate QB’s from middling teams in power conferences. You get to see them under ideal situations (like a middling SEC squad against Tulane), but you get to see them against great adversity (playing against Bama, outmatched).

Stroud and Young could be elite starters in the NFL, but it’s a lot cloudier because they were in great teams.

That’s all I’m saying.

gotcha. just from my eye test, which doesn't mean jack, he looks like the real deal. i mean he and bryce both look like they deserve the hype. levis and anthony richardson both have too many question marks for me to feel great about picking them earlier than where we are picking and even then it's kind of like we'd be settling and hoping that they could get coached up.

but bryce and cj both showed exactly and consistently what you would want them to show for early draft picks. at least that's what i see.

I’ll say this: much of my criticism at this point is that they had ideal situations to play in.

Our offensive line is solid and we kept our oline coach.

If we add a TE (or develop one), perhaps another back and receiver in the draft…

…and our defense has talent.

One of these quarterbacks could hit the ground running in an ideal situation.

With Reich and this roster, it may be as smooth as it could get for a young QB beginning his career.

IDC about the big10 championship. The conference is weak overall. There's no real competition to OSU other than Michigan. Who finally got it done this year.

The reason Fields slid in the draft was due to his struggles against good defenses.

Stroud had one of his best games against a Juggernaut team in UGA.

I'd take Stroud over Fields 10/10.

And Fields had his biggest game against a Clemson team and won it. And played hurt. I want Stroud but I’d take Fields over him.

as much as this team is maligned around here by some, this team is probably a TE or two short of being an ideal situation for a new QB to step into.

with reich and an up and coming QB, there's no reason that we can't hit the playoffs in year 1. i really appreciated him talking about how if you are doing things right you should be having a quick success. no doubt that was a big part of the conversations he had with tepper and fitt after having to deal with rhule's poo.

What about Burrow tearing his ACL his rookie year, Herbert getting injured early this year, Corral couldn't even make it past preseason.  MAYBE it's a physical sport and a lot of young QBs will go down with injuries at some point.

Running the football on a regular basis increases the odds that a quarterback will get hurt. There is no guarantee than any player in football will not get hurt.

Also, sure let's get that Robbie Anderson contract worked out.

This seems like you're implying that they shouldn't trade up for a QB, but this was not your initial assertion, which was that you don't think they would trade up. Feels like a pivot on your part to bring up Robbie as a slight on Fitt's decision making.
