We've made the move, we've moved on.

So, let's.

Who is we?? Because last I checked people haven't moved on from this and let's face facts here... Some are still are not going to let it go until we start winning.

Furthermore (and as I stated to someone else)... This is coming from a former player... Which means that the media is still talking about it too...

Lady Cowboy Fan and I are very happy together, but we still occasionally talk about our respective exes.

When we do, it's typically within the context of being happy that we're no longer in those relationships or sometimes just saying "Man, can't believe I ever put up with that. I feel so much smarter and better about myself now".

It can be highly therapeutic to look back at where you used to be and see how far you've come.

If Wilks really was adamant about Holcomb returning as DC I wouldn't be surprised. Great culture guy but also kinda stuck in his ways Rivera style. Reich seems more open to evolving with the rest of the NFL, and also has more connections. That would probably sway me towards Reich also if I were the owner. Duce Staley is already gonna replace some of that energy Wilks brought and won't be surprised if he's in line to take over HC eventually

I can’t wrap my head around losing out on 1 of the 32 most elite and highly sought after job titles because they won’t let me keep my bestie.

(not saying that was the determining factor, but staff choice was high on the list for this job)

Doubt we'll ever know if the team said anything directly to Wilks about Holcomb, but Smitty is correct in saying he could at least conceivably have read the tea leaves.

And yeah staffing was, by all accounts, a big factor in this search. If you weren't selling people that made the team feel good, well... 😕

The die has been cast. I wanted Wilks as the HC, but management chose differently. Personally, I think Smitty's take on this is a really good one and it gave me some reasons to see the choice in a different light.

But, in the end, we now have Frank Reich as our head coach, he's our guy. I'm cheering for him to turn this around and make us into winners. Can't dwell on the past so, it's time to move on.

I'm looking forward to the 2023 season and watching what happens in the offseason.

I understand this take but with weird posters claiming players are widely unhappy etc it's good to read/listen to someone that is very in touch with the players supporting the Tepper decision, as it does kinda counter some of the other misinformation.

Not at all trying to kick Wilks when he's down etc with that.

But fug Rhule and his college poo.

what smitty talked about with regards to the steelers game was point on. no matter what else happened....he HAD to win that game against the steelers. I mean if WIlks really wanted that job, that was one that he COULD NOT lose, and he did.

right or wrong, that was a big no no. it's tepper's team against his old team and we keep getting embarrassed by them...at home. Smith was right, you have to make the boss look good in situations that are important for him. you fail at that and you have failed him and it's hard to come back from that.

This 1000%. Ditto on the TB game for a shot at the division and playoffs. I like Wilks but his coaching didn’t rise to the occasion during for these critical games, which likely weighed heavily into their decision to go with Reich.

i think that's the issue with most defensive coaches.

wilks is/was a really good coach, but he's not going to outscheme anyone. wouldn't have trusted anyone on his staff to do it either. i mean i would trust him to do it more than rhule because he knows the game a lot better, but i just don't trust defensive coaches to be able to outscheme much of anyone. neither fox or rivera could do it. don't think either of them had any interest in doing it and i'm not sure wilks would either.

that's just not the mindset of DCs who become HCs. they are more interested in limiting mistakes and trying to coach a hardnose football team than out playing the other coaching staff in a game of chess.

    • No Pesce for remainder of 1st round. TDA draws in...I'm always worried about defensive injuries in the playoffs for the Canes. Our defensive style doesn't bode well for substitutes. Hopefully Tony plays well! LETS GO CANES.
