Do the Panthers take advantage of a strong TE class or ignore drafting a TE since they signed Hurst?

We are likely to miss out on a good class because by the 3rd round the pickings are going to be slim.  There's no way the team is taking a TE over a WR in the second round.

They should if the TE is the better player. TEs have succeeded for years as the number 1 receiving option in the NFL. That said, yeah, in desperation, they'll reach for a WR.

LaPorta may be there in the 3rd, but after him there still will be serviceable TEs, however not sure-fire starters.

We will draft a TE I am sure. But I would suggest we get a WR or two and a pass rusher/ outside linebacker type or two as well. Add a few decelopmental guys in the later rounds BPA.  But TE to me isn't a huge need as both Tremble and Hurst are going to.like this offense.

That's a lengthy list for a team with only 6 picks, well 5 because the first one is be a QB. "Or two" isn't happening...one spot at most, which will prevent other needs from being addressed.

Recent history suggests that a rookie TE has a very low chance of making an impact in year 1 compared to their cousin the rookie WR.

If the Panthers were to take one of the top TEs they would most likely need time to develop; having the other TEs on the roster for "this season" shouldn't really impact the long-term thinking that occurs during the draft.

Remember that a lot of UDFAs are available as well which I include as part of the draft since it occurs immediately after.

I would like to, but Ian Thomas for another year precludes us from it. The TE classes should be strong from now on as it has become a glamour position honestly. Any pass catchers now make bank. I think the franchise tag is more for TE than RB these days. I’m just happy we got Hurst and if he stays healthy I think he’s going to have a career year as our primary passing down TE.

Okay. If we end up passing on a TE who becomes the next Olsen or Kelce to reach on a WR who becomes a JAG I'll be sure to remind you of this take.

Do you remember what we gave up to trade for Olsen?  Travis Kelce was a 3rd round pick.  That is a theme with the TE position.  I would love to have a conversation about this.  But you have to be honest about what we are talking about.
