Don't deflate them all now with reality. They want to believe this is how championship teams are built before the new coaches can even get reps with their new team that needs a new culture and a foundation that has yet to be put in place.

Chark wanted a longer contract at more money. Reich wanted Chark as depth for his 3 WR offensive fit. So, rent him for a year and take care of that depth spot next season. Reich needs to find his big work horse/playmaker #1 WR now. Thielen is the #2 and Chark is the #3. Still a big void for Reich's play calling at that WR position. I believe he'll target a WR in the draft for that spot.

Only issue is, unless we find a later gem or somehow come up with another 1st round pick I don't see a lot of guys in our range that have the makings of a WR1, this may be a audition year for TMJ then attempt a splash next season type of deal.  Good WRs for sure this draft but when you get into the 2nd/3rd round there's a ton of questionable guys or guys who are better suited to the slot.

If Zay Flowers is there I am taking 30 seconds to make that pick

Boston College WR Zay Flowers is rated one of the top 5 WR's in the 2023 NFL Draft, so he may or may not still be there wen the Panthers pick 39th in the 2nd rd..

    • Not bad, not great. Talk to me after the season. There's too much disfunction to make an accurate call.
    • One of the few positives is we are at least giving significant reps to our young players. Of course there's really no one else anyways.
    • We've played 6 games, so about 35% of the season has passed already. I know it's early but this class already looks more promising than 2023, which might have been the worst draft in panthers franchise history.  Legette looks pretty good, he looks explosive. Maybe he hasn't gotten huge bombs yet but he's demonstrated that he's strong and fast with the ball and is a nice red zone target. He's probably gonna get something like 500 yards 5 or 6 TDs by seasons end, which is pretty decent for a rookie WR on a bad team.  He's basically what the Panthers thought Mingo would be last year.  Brooks obviously hasn't played but he could turn this rookie class into a slam dunk if he's good. I'd expect him to get sprinkled in to the later half of the year, but don't expect him to get a ton of carries with Chubba running so well and Canales apparent aversion for running the ball. Wallace has been a pleasant surprise. I haven't been watching him super closely, but I like his tackling ability and high motor. JT Sanders has been okay ish.   Not so sure about Smith Wade or Crumedy. I know Barrett was traded to Seattle.  We very very rarely hit on 4th  to 7th rounders historically.  So even getting a solid role player out of any of these dudes would be a huge win.
