At this point in time, who feels like we lost this trade?

Come on.....this trade was a win. Definitely right staff, right time.  And, Bears will not be getting a high draft pick.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but...knowing the history of this team, I am not ready to make any definitive declarations this early.

Now, I don't believe the Bears will be getting a high pick (which is definitely a plus---a moral victory, even if it may appear somewhat petty from one perspective, but at the end of the day it all speaks to a competitive advantage...or disadvantage).

Now, as for the "right staff," I very much think that still remains to be seen. I think it's easy to fall in love with Frank Reich because he generally says all the right things. It's amazing, right? My problem is that the reality is that he made some very questionable in-game decisions particularly in the postseason. I guess for me, I'm skeptical, but hopeful. I'll keep an open mind until I see a pattern of screwups. I'm thinking that Young will be able to cover over a lot of deficiencies if it comes to that (he'll, he literally already caught an OTA script error). And speaking in reference to Young, I do believe that the staff is absolutely the "right staff" in terms of his development. There seems to be some great support for QBs (Reich being one of them), and I am eager to see the results.

LOL. No. Even the Chargers wanted Eli.  As for DJ, he was less than middle of the pack when you have Darnold throwing him the ball.  It would have been nice to see him get to catch passes from Bryce but that was an impossible Catch 22 situation.

It doesn't matter who wanted what. The reality is that for years after the trade it looked like the Chargers got the better of it. Rivers is better than Manning in every statistical category. Before Merriman's career was detailed by injury he looked like a surefire HOFer and maybe on track to be one of the best defensive players ever with 39.5 sacks through his first three seasons. That's the sixth most of all time through the first three seasons of a career. They also got Nate Kaeding out of that trade who was probably the best kicker in the league through the mid to late '00s.

Two rings to none means the Giants won that trade but it took awhile for that to become apparent. Honestly, the Giants just had the better overall organization.

It is the season for enthusiasm.  Most people get better at their jobs with experience so I am thinking we got a better Frank Reich than Indy did.  Also, he was kind of thrown into the HC job there after McDaniels did a 180 with some staff already hired.  He has had time to plan and has surrounded himself with what has to be the best coaching staff the Panthers have had. So, it  is fun to be excited about the team. If for some reason I am wrong and it does not work out, well, I have had a nice summer.😎

The trade itself was a win-win for both organizations for now.  Never bought into the "robbed" talk.  People are just desperate to see something like that, to the point where any trade involving a team giving up more than one asset, is considered to be a fleecing.  People forget the days of old where the Vikings gave away their soul to have Herschel Walker, or the Saints giving away entire drafts for Ricky Williams. Lol.

That being said, the biggest thing we gave up was next year's 1st in my estimation.  I love DJ Moore, but it's not like we gave away an all-time wideout.  I believe with good QB play in Chicago, he will become a top 5 WR in the league.  For us and our horrid QB play, that would never happen.  I also don't consider that 2nd round pick to be a big lost for us in 2025. (Even though those picks are future starters, I can live with it considering what we got with the 1st overall this year)  So again, our biggest lost in this trade is next year's 1st.

So ultimately the future will decide if this trade was bad on our part.  I see us having good success with Bryce Young.  If he reaches his potential, to where we are consistent competitors for championships, I would say we robbed the Bears.  If Bryce turns out to be HOF worthy at the QB position, that would be fleece level.  On the flip side, if we for some reason have the worst record in football next year, giving the Bears the first overall pick, then at that time I would say we were fleeced.  I personally don't see that happening.

It's a win-win because if Young is a bust we get a new GM.

lol Just because you can think it, does not make it so.

Fitty did not make this decision unilaterally. There were plenty of folks in that building that were behind the move. Do you plan on firing everyone that endorsed the trade?

I know fan is short for fanatic, but c'mon man.

Carolina "won" because we hopefully ended up with our franchise QB.

Chicago "won" because they've set themselves up to see if Fields has "it" or not. If he doesn't and they falter, high draft pick. If BY has a typical NFL rookie season, Carolina's pick could be a good one. It's possible they could get both a top QB and Harrison Jr.

Both teams accomplished what they were trying to do. Whether that works out in the long run, we'll see.

Only a few if you will overreact like that. I mean y'all have been doing it since the beginning. Why would that change?

The rest know that he'll have some down moments, but the good ones will far outweigh the bad. We know he won't be perfect, but you know what? We happen to be excited anyways.

All I can say is it would suck to be on the side of the fence that isn't excited and is all glum about it.

It was a joke, man

Not to put to fine of a point on this. But...We did accomplish what we set out to do. Get our franchise QB. Chicago has no idea if what they set out to do is actually going to work.

Although now that I think about it. We don't know if our franchise QB is going to actually work out either. So...Oh crap. Nevermind.

You might have intended for it to be, but nothing I said wasn't true.

Those few of you who have been doubting Young the whole time will likely continue to do it and just like y'all have been doing you'll ignore the good things he's doing and key in on the very few mistakes and point to those as proof it was a bad decision.

I've been around long enough to know how it works, the tendencies people have. You don't think it's a fair assessment of you, prove me wrong. Prove you have more to say about him than negative poo and "concerns".

Or don't.

They set themselves up in case of failure. Definitely a much better approach than going all in on Mitch Trubisky.

It never once bothered me that we traded away DJ Moore. I’m only bringing him up because most all the pundits were using him as the reason we lost the trade. I never understood it, he’s a good wide receiver but he is (and was) replaceable.

I believe that drafting Mingo did a lot to offset the loss of DJ Moore.  Moreover, I predict the overall productivity gain of Mingo+DJ Chaulk (the new DJ)+Theilen+Damiere Byrd  >>> Loss of DJ Moore.
So we basically got our franchise QB for a 1st rounder next year and a 2nd rounder in 2 years.  I would take that trade in a heartbeat.

Don't know if this been shared but I just watched it...

The optimism I have for this team...no for myself.

As a fan who constantly gets disappointed in their teams decision making when they're bad but when they're making good decisions I find my life to be a little easier for me to make good decisions.

Bryce was the best decision this team has made ever and the new philosophy of Offense makes me want to be more proactive instead of reactive.

We will win a Superbowl with this kid no doubt

I fully agree. If Bryce Young turns out the way it seems he should, it will be a steal for the Panthers, to think otherwise would be foolish.
