Jaycee Horn to miss the rest of OTAs and minicamp

Semantics aside, surely we can all agree that a player who has been able to suit up for just under half of the games in his two seasons and is now going to be forced to miss the entire off-season has some serious durability concerns.

At one time we would have said that about Thomas Davis as well though and then all of a sudden he had no more injury issues with the knees. Maybe he will turn that unlucky injury corner like Davis did and be available for 99% of the rest of his career. I realize that is hopeful thinking but for a guy as good as he is when he is playing I guess I have to stay hopeful

Maybe. History says it's betting heavily against the evidence though. I agree that we should remain hopeful as fans in the meantime. No downside to it. We're not forced into a decision until his fifth year option comes up and not forced into a long-term decision until the year after that.

If I'm in the front office though thinking about roster building I have serious concerns at CB. Not just for this year but long-term. I have to assume that Dante Jackson will come back from his Achilles a shadow of his former self because most guys do, especially guys highly reliant on their speed and quickness which he is and I have to assume that Horn is going to continue to have injury issues because history tends to repeat itself.

Oh yeah we definitely have some serious issues here as of today. I think Jackson's injury could very well limit his speed and lets face it, that was his best attribute. If Horn's injury streak continues we will for sure be in dire need. Its frustrating with Horn as you see how great he could be. Regardless, I feel like we need another very capable corner. I wish CJ could have been it but doesnt appear so.

It's still far too early to declare him an injury prone player, and pointing to him having missed half the games in his career so far is a bit unfair.  13 of the 17 missed games came in his rookie year because of one injury and if we were a contending team that year, he probably is back for the final month of the season, but with us being bad, shutting him down was just a business decision.

I also don't remember the specifics of his injury last year, but with him missing the final 4 weeks, it could have been the same, where he might not have missed all of those if there was a point in playing him.

For all we know he just had a slight twisted ankle here so they're deciding it's better to just hold him out until training camp.

We 100% still need to add a veteran (or two) as players are getting cut during camp and who can contribute at Corner for us this year.

Weren’t we in the playoff race until like week 17 against Tampa? His injury was legit last year. We could have used him while Evans was roasting our secondary…

Pretty sure he took a helmet to his wrist and it broke, pretty sure a broken wrist would be the outcome in that situation for any player. I don't think he's ever had any major hamstring or soft tissue issues, just bad luck with some broken bones

I think Horn is at the crossroads health wise. This isn’t enough to label him but another round of bad luck would get him there for me.

As far as 17 games and Horn specifically, how many are on poo turf? Every one in Charlotte is. It doesn’t help.
And applying it to everyone, 17 games are too many to run in a row, with these Thursday games and Monday games and Saturday games later and then if you make the playoffs. It is a gauntlet and a lot of players can’t do it physically. Pretty sure these guys want to be playing not watching their replacements give up the cheese.

I think there will be a young-ish veteran cut between now and game 1 that we pick up.

Regardless of Horn, we need to start figuring out DJax too. He'll be 28 later this year and his contract is up after '24.

I'm intrigued to see Witherspoon as a camp body to see if he's better than Taylor/Henderson. Odds are something better shakes out of camp cuts too, but it's clear we need somebody.
