“I sincerely apologize for the pain, embarrassment and disappointment that last year’s incident caused so many people. Time away from the game allowed me to reflect, immerse myself in therapy and prioritize becoming a better person - someone my family and peers can be proud of. I’m grateful to the Hornets and the NBA community for giving me a second chance - most people don’t ever get one and I understand those questioning whether I deserve one. I will do everything I can to earn back the trust and confidence of my teammates, coaches, the Hornets organization and staff, fans, and the Charlotte community. I’m ready to return to work and can’t wait to rejoin my Hornets teammates.”

I hope he's for real.

I like him as a player and we really got screwed last year because of his actions!! Melo and him had good chemistry going which looked like a promising season.. but after what happened.. hard to support him.. but maybe the Hornets can get to the playoffs and not lose on the play in!!  Lol

I can only go by the things he says. He does sound sincere. From a human standpoint I hope he gets himself on and stays on the right track. It would be great to see him turn this from a negative into a positive and go on to spend the next several years competing for this franchise. TBD is all anyone can say right now. We shall see.

Sounds like he's open for a long-term relationship with the Hornets. He just wants a bigger contract. He bet on himself hopefully he balls out this year.

I will never respect him as a man though.

We need to wish him good luck as fans. I just hope he has learned a lesson and moves on to have a good season.

Apparently this happened months ago and the Hornets knew about it and still brought him back.

Some honest points being brought up about the front offices willingness to sweep this under the rug but quickly release Kai Jones over his public mental health breakdown.

Trashy.

He's on 3 year probation right? Can't be good for his on court availability

Their had to more to the Kai Jones story that hasn't released to the public right? Maybe drug test failed? This front office is weird.

    • CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers coach Dave Canales said Friday that starters will play in the first two preseason games, stopping just short of admitting he made a mistake last season holding them out. The plan includes playing quarterback Bryce Young, who got off to a historically bad start to the 2024 regular season that got him benched after opening 0-2. Carolina opens their preseason schedule Friday at home against Cleveland, followed by an August 15 road game at Houston and August 21 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.   Canales said he will evaluate after the first two games whether starters will play in the third game. "Kind of going through it last year, we had a mix of veteran players, but [this is] predominantly a pretty young team,'' said Canales, who has at least six new starters to the defense that was the worst in the league a year ago. "I just can't pass up the opportunities. The reps in games are valuable. "[But] it goes to the night before, when guys know they're going to go out there, they've got to make a decision to play football. So it starts the night before with the prep. You start thinking about your plan, taking care of your body, making sure you get your rest.''   https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45880676/panthers-starters-play-first-2-preseason-games-says-coach
    • You call the Cowboys purely for information, but we don't have the assets to pull off any realistic trade. Also, even if they would consider any trade, it's more likely they want to do it with an AFC team.
