He (CJ) definitely was throwing into very tight windows last game... Probably sometimes to dudes people here would say weren't open.  But the chart suggests he's inaccurate when throwing to open windows, which I did not see last game. Didn't watch his first game at all, though.

As usual, good information @TheCasillas.

I have been attributing the lack of separation and bunching up as a play design issue, but realized it was possible the receivers were just effing up their routes.  I dismissed that thinking that scenario would require too much effing up to be credible.  I should have known, there is no such thing as too much screwing up to be possible.

Your initial observations on the All 22 are consistent with what I was seeing (as was bad play design).

Something has to give.  I thought this team had a chance to make the playoffs (but not expecting it) based about 50% on it being a weak division, even if it is not as weak as last year.  The other 50% was about half dependent on our receivers being better as a group than they individually look on paper.  Instead, they have been worse than they look individually on paper. 

Having a young QB trying to distribute the ball to the Keystone Kops, whether by execution or play design, is not a ticket to success now or in the longer term.

One of the critiques I'm hearing from the media is the Panthers lack a deep threat to spread the offense. But I'm confused. I thought TMJ was supposed be good at that, considering:

I mean, did anyone consider the Texans' Nico Collins a great WR coming into the season? He was a 3rd round pick a couple of years ago. Had few yards last year than TMJ. Yet, he looked elite this Sunday.

      From the games I've seen, our defense is getting caught out of position more than I'm accustomed to, which is leading to odd man breaks. And it seems like our forwards are not committing to the back check as much when other teams are getting it deep. Not to mention, our goalie play has been significantly worse this year than previous years. That being said, we are still second place in our division despite most of us being upset at how we're playing...
