Every 'what if' is better than what they actually did. Tepper got his man and it is a worst case scenario.

Anyone talking about building up Young by building a roster around him is delisional and can't face the fact they drafted Bust Young at an incredible cost.

can we have CMC back in your alternative universe?

Another alternate timeline.

With CMC back, we wouldn't have all those extra picks and we wouldn't have been able to sign all those free agents that we picked up during the offseason. Not that they helped us anyway.

Dalton with CMC and DJ Moore. Same O-line. Defense roughly the same as now (minus Bell plus Carter).

We're probably 4-9 or something with Reich still coaching. Better, but still going nowhere fast in the long run. The OL is still a disaster, the run game is still hit and miss, the receivers still get little to no separation outside of D.J. Moore, who defenses key on and prevent from making a big impact and the defense is still keeping us in games only to eventually fold due to the offense's inability to do its part. This hodge-podge square peg/round hole coaching staff still isn't the answer only maybe it takes us a little longer to realize it.

The Bryce trade looks really bad at this point, but is FAR from the biggest issue facing this franchise. Worst case scenario is we're REALLY bad for 2 years and end up in position to draft another QB in the top-5 in 2025. It's the Tepper-shaped elephant in the room that is really going to hold us back in the long-term.

I mean, you may well be right but what choice do we have at this point? Unless we get EXTREMELY lucky and have some stud QB fall to us in the 2nd or 3rd round we can't really do anything but build around Bryce and hope he comes around until at least 2025.

The investment we made in him means we basically HAVE to give it a go with him before moving on. Not that, again, we have much choice. What are we supposed to do, start Dalton and never give Bryce another shot? Release him? Trade him for nothing?

All we CAN do is build the best roster and staff around him we can manage and hope for the best. At least if we get the team around him decent then we'll be in better shape once his replacement is drafted.

They have to build the team from ashes anyways now. Saying they are going to build around Young just means that he won't face real competition next year and are avoiding Bryce's real issues (it's him first with lots after that) vs building the team up and letting him earn it or sit to work on his issues.

The investment angle is a dead end. It's spent and gone, it won't be coming back. People walk away from bad investments every day, this is no less painful but certainly not a unique thing. They don't even have to walk away, just admit it was not what they hoped for. They should be trying to get more out of every player anyways. The difference would be to sit him to see if he can actually develope better habits. This team already has a better option on the roster currently, we don't need a stud just something better which is not only possible but already sitting around.

The time to hand Young the starting spot just because of what they spent on him has past. He should earn it because if he can't beat out other QBs then he shouldn't be starting going forward regardless of what he cost them. It would actually be a mercy to him at this point and might help him salvage his career. The only thing positive to come out of more of this current approach with Young is the #1 pick in 2025 being a lock.

Yes, he should earn it, but at the same time sitting him only delays the inevitable. I would actually be fine with sitting him the rest of this year because it's clear nothing good is going to come of him continuing to play at this point other than possibly getting injured behind our awful OL. But if you sit him you better damn well do it with a plan in place.

And honestly, I'd rather start Bryce next year even if it means getting the #1 pick in 2025 because at least then we'll know and be in position to draft another QB. If we sit him because Dalton looks better in training camp what does that accomplish other than a few extra meaningless wins that will take us out of the top-5 the following offseason?

I know everyone is sick of this losing but I want us to win the long game, not just a few games here and there. And unless we have a franchise QB magically fall to us in the 2nd or 3rd round we have to at least do our best to try and make it work with Bryce. If it doesn't, at least we'll know it's time to move on after 2024 and we'll be in position to do so with a higher pick.

This entire team should earn their starting spot. If they hand it to Young without legit compitition after what went down this season then it's just hamstringing another coaching staff unnecessarily. If he can't beat out a Dalton or at least make it close enough that talk of improvemt is more than blind hope then he shouldn't be starting.

Another historically bad year just for the #1 vs letting a new staff begin to build off of those meaningless wins? Yeah no contest. They are still going to be top 10 and most likely top 5 even with a coupple of meaningless wins. Going back ti back 1 win seasons with a new staff would be very bad.

Anyway you look at it if Bryce is forced as the starter when he shouldn't be this team will be worse off from it just like it has all season. To put that on annew staff will end like the last. If he can't earn it he shouldn't have it.

We stayed at the 9 overall pick and selected Jalen Carter.

Dalton is our starter this season plus DJ Moore and the same team around him as now.

What is our record?

Do we win the division?

First off....with our pathetic o-line, your Ginger would be killed unless you never saw how he struggles without any protection. I would NEVER do that to an old immobile QB by bringing him here but kept PJ Walker as he was our BEST QB last season by a mile.

    • Best I heard its a clause the bungals want to add. It prevents them form paying the full guaranteed amount if triggered. No one knows the details of the clause, but guesses are it relates to off-field stuff. Stewart is in the right here. Before they signed burrow, chase, and Higgins they were the cheapest team in the league bar none. Unlike tepper or jarrah Jones or any other NFL ownership, all Mike brown owns is the beagals. Every other owner has many other money making businesses, not bungals.  I still remember when Brenston Bunker was starting on WFNZ and he told the story about the beagals telling him to pick a used cup form a huge pile, LOLS! They been on hard knocks and I remember Marvin lewis telling the players not to take home Gatorade bottles........* but in that case, I believe some players were taking a back pack and filling it up with drinks. Still you make millions(around 200million) in net profit and Im sure coke gave the team those bottles, still... Its a 32 team billion business, someone has to the cheapest.....Panthers were around the next cheapest team before tepper bought them and he has POURED millions upon millions into the team. He bought a bubble that Richardson never would, so the team had to gather in building during the rain. He spent millions on coofus machines that he just gave away like the bubble. Tepper made that AC trailer a thing. I've trashed him about his concerts and taking away end zone seats from fans. But the guy will spend money any way to efforts to better the team, dang I just remembered the deal he gave Rhule- more than Andy Reid at the time.  I know results have not came, but Id 100% take Tepper over Mike brown as a owner.
    • There's no way they're shipping you some uniform you haven't seen lol.  I feel like they'd just refund you and ask if you wanted the new one when it launched. Probably just making the blues the primary, or a new helmet for a new alternate/variation.
    • Man even after 5-12 seasons they are able to produce hype videos.
