The NHL is already making "half shields" mandatory for anyone entering the league now.

In college hockey they are required to wear the full face cage masks, but as soon as the players get to the NHL level... they don't translate over. It's more of a question about comfort for the players.

They are not mandatory at the NHL level. They are mandatory at the AHL level, though. So that plays a big part. They are still optional at the NHL level, but the league highly recommends wearing one.

They don't even need to force it, really. Eventually everyone will wear a visor, just like when guys started wearing helmets, goalies started wearing masks.. etc.

Well, if I played hockey, I'd be wearing the facemask. I like my teeth, skull, and jawbone just like they are.

On the other hand, I won't tell someone else they have to wear it.

and...one thing about full face....think of it this way....hot sweaty hockey player breathing in all that nice cold air = fogging!
