Looks like we get to keep Ejiro Evero!

Also, I love Chinn and I hate we are going to lose a player of his caliber because he doesn't fit the system.  Everyone could see this coming.  Should have traded him last year at the very least.  I agree that I think he will be elite on another team.

It is a mark against Ejiro that he couldn't find a better use of Chinn, especially with all the injuries we had.

I still don't understand why we never moved him to linebacker.  6'3, 221.  He could easily put on 10-15 more lbs.  We could have kept Luvu on the outside which would have also helped Burns a lot more having a good pass rushing opposite.

Maybe Chinn doesn’t wanna gain 10-15 lbs to play LB. Anyone ever considered that?

Yep, but he has to know that's holding him back if that's the case.  Some people are stubborn and want to make something work that's not in their best interest.  I admire the determination, but the whole forcing a square peg in a round whole idea.   Chinn isn't a bad safety, actually he's pretty good, but I think he could be a Pro Bowl LB.

Ejiro's Bronco's held the same title the prior season.  If we don't lead the NFL in missed tackles in 2024....it will be the first time for the DC.

Frank/Thomas Brown essentially have caused people to inflate Ejiro and this D.  They weren't good last year.   They just weren't the comical joke the O was.

we should of cleaned house.  Too much of the old mess is remaining.  This type stuff is why the Panthers continue to be so easy to predict each season in terms of success/failure.

Defense held opponents to under the league average of 21.8 pts in 9 games last year (Bryce had 2 pick 6's in the Colts game, the offense only scored 13 points).

If we had a league average offense, we win a handful more of those games at the least.

Based on the switch to 3-4, all of the injuries, and the meh talent throughout the roster, the Defense did admirably.

Although I do understand the perspective that while they were the shiniest turd in the dog park, they were still a turd - there is reason to be optimistic about the defense moving forward, especially if we can lock up Brown and Re-sign Luvu.

Really is a glass half full half empty kind of a deal.

the last half decade has me unable to see a glass that is half full in regards to the Panthers.   That's not negativity.  But if you watch someone pour half the glass all over the floor over and over.....I just call it what it generally has proven to be until that cycle is broken.

The defense last year had to account for the worst starting position in the league or close to it, and an offense that had the most or second most points scored for an opponent. In addition to total yards, they also had a decent 3rd down conversion % and a low yards per play amount. They were also top 5 in points allowed in the first quarter. This is probably a playoff team (admittedly in a weak NFC South) with 1) an average offense in terms of points scored, and 2) an average offense in terms of, uh, not scoring points for the opponent.

On the other hand, our tackling sucked and our takeaways sucked. Our run D was not good. We couldn't get stops late in games when we really needed them.

But with all the injuries etc... I think Evero did a good job overall.  I don't think he is the best D coordinator in the NFL or something, but I think he made good use of what he had, talent-wise.

Haven't watched. Watch it if you want, complain if you want too. Otherwise, ignore.

My only gripe with this is he’s already positing and pondering internal strife amongst the staff and players thinking the defensive players won’t listen to Canales bc they wanted Evero as HC.

it’s one thing to ask the question, but the way he’s presenting his point it’s like he’s wanting it or expecting it

I can't listen to that guy. His takes are constantly looking for poo. No common sense at all.

I mean, I think the common sense approach is a clean start....if you are coming off a reported Game of Thrones atmosphere in house.  We are keeping some big chunks in the front office and coaching intact despite the mess that was going on in Carolina.

but I mean, his job is to look for poo and get you to listen.  I don't argue that.

    • Don't really love any of these dudes  I'd wait until 2026 to draft a qb unless you're just picking up a flyer on one of these guys listed in R5- R7 or something.  Whole team is too talented deprived to be reaching for QBs of questionable ability to translate to the NFL at this point. I'd be pissed drafting any of them in R1. That let's me know either Canales, Morgan, Tepperr, or all 3 of them have not learned their lesson and are desperately grasping for a quick cure all again.  At least not having to trade up for the qb would make it more tolerable. But imo, you use it on a can't miss player. If we have pick 1 2 or 3 , you can basically draft the unanimous #1 offensive or defensive players in the draft at almost any position.  Game breaking WR to grow with Legette and Diontae. Game breaking edge to bring the defense back from the dead!!  Superb corner to pair with Jaycee to make a shut down secondary unit . fug these qbs
    • It was all because of Young. Propping him up with ‘the best’ pass catching RB in the class - for that 12 yard passing zone Bryce owns like no one else.  Every freaking thing they did was ham fisted overkill aimed at eliminating all excuses.  Not advocating or defending it, just trying to reason out the why. There actually is a chance he will be really really good.
    • This 2025 draft is looking pretty decent at edge thus far.
