Burns got the last laugh after all smh

This franchise is pathetic to let a player finesse you out of assets. Not only did he not sign with us, he went to another team got his 30 mil and left us with a 2nd and a 5th. Just flat out pathetic.

Dan Morgan is no different than Fitt. You don't let him walk without getting a real return. We had him under contract for 2 more years. We could have waited until he increased his trade value. We basically traded him for pennies on the dollar. This franchise is honestly going downhill. We loss 2 of our top 3 defensive players in FA.

Fug this franchise!

Dan Morgan is probably the worst hire the Panthers could have made.  GMs and agents around the league were probably licking their chops to fleece this guy in the offseason.  The moves so far today are evident of that.

This doesn’t feel all thst controversial to me.

Letting HoF Peppers walk for nothing was much much worse.

Letting Norman walk wasn’t a terrible decision in a vacuum but the way we went about it was a clusterpoop, then the kneejerk reaction drafting 3 CBs.

This just feels like two parties that couldn’t come to terms, everybody got something. Everybody got what the market was willing to pay.

The sad part is we didn't have to make this trade. He could have held on until Burns improved his value.

What a joke this is. The fact the giants were willing to pay him 30 mill a year, you don't think we can squeeze maybe a little more than an extra late round pick to go along m with that 2nd? Holy fug this team is frustrating

Burns won he got paid.

We are the one who are stuck with no pass rush now. Jokes on us.

we've got 24 million in cap space, we can go buy his 8 sacks a year for a lot less.

Return value discussion aside that is an absurd contact for Burns no matter how well he may play there.

I think most of the ire centers around this combined with the 100 million dollar contract for an OG and having holes all across the roster.

But. If we had begun doing this a few years ago it wouldn't sting this bad currently. Tepper and Fitterer kept making all in win now moves like they were playing Madden GM mode (hi Bryce Young) and this is the aftermath of what we get.

    • The one thing I keep seeing over and over with him is he cannot handle a stunt and struggles to disengage. If he's locked up with an end and someone comes around to his left, they're getting to the QB. I don't know if it's a mental or technique thing, or was a problem with bryce not knowing how to set protections, or canales' system. probably a combo of everything, but he just does look like he fully understands the position. I don't know how long you wait for a guy to figure that stuff out.
    • and for the record, Brooks was a monster at Texas and we should wait until he takes the field before we make a final judgement on the move. As it stands, we already have a very good running back and man it'd be sweet if we had more young defenders, tho.
    • We traded back before we traded up and acquired a future 2nd in the process.  It's not like we threw away additional high picks to get him.  I think it was a couple 5ths that we just acquired or got back regardless.  5th rounds picks were being written off as not worth our time for AT and DJ earlier.   We did however use our 2nd on a player that isn't able to contribute right away and that really hurts with as many holes as we have on this roster.  The pick itself was questionable.  The trade up part of it was no big deal though.  In totality we dropped back some spots and got a 2025 2nd plus Brooks.
