He's raw like Mingo. Point being another physical specimen that needs a lot of refinement isn't what we need.  Again, we already have one of those.

I mean, yeah, they both are raw...but I still don't think that then makes them comparable prospects.   Leggette's skill set and style IMO projects to him being able to be a factor quicker than Mingo.   Which is why Leggette had a dominate season in the SEC.....and Mingo never saw such.

and as I have said from the jump, I really want a WR double dip. That's always been when I brought Leggette in.   Frankly, I wish we just drafted the 2 best WRs, BPA at TE and RB the next 2.  Top 4 all offense.  Focus on adding young skill talent on O this draft.  Cupboard is bare everywhere.  Make it an O skill talent draft.

I mean, I’ve been lobbying for Leggette for weeks and weeks.  And it started before the combine….but now I’m some Clemson hater?

my ideal draft I was pitching was a back to back of some sort of Mitchell and then Leggette back to back play and that was before we picked up that 2nd.

and the top of the 3rd was a possibility then.  Now people are driving him up their boards higher.  Which happens.

so yeah, I’d love Leggette.  At the right place. Which isn’t the 33rd.

I’m a Clemson fan but I would absolutely love to hear his name called with one of our 2nd round picks (preferably #39). Watch him play a few times last season and he’s the real deal.

yeah, the only thing I will say about Leggette.....is I don't think Bryce Young would be a good fit for him given what we saw from Bryce.

but I also don't think Bryce Young showed enough to have him influence big future investments.  Just short terms ones.  I think our front office should be building going forward for what would be good for a QB.

Leggette seems ideal for a Jake Delhomme type.  Which ain't Bryce.

Exactly what I'm thinking they will do. If Legette is taken, they will draft Corley.

Corley may be a good receiver for us. I certainly don't believe that we'll pick him at 33 though, and 39 is even a reach. He may be a decent consolation prize. He's not as big, not as physical at the catch point as Legette, and not as fast or athletic, but he can still make plays with his running. He'll likely need more development than Legette, but I can see us trading down and trying to get him. With him, and let's say a Malik Washington, we'd have something to work with.

I just want a physical guy who's an obvious X that has WR1 upside.

I’ve been a Leggette praiser bruh.  Tons of threads where I’m arguing for him.  I mean, he has been part of almost every mock scenario I have pitched since pre-combine.

I just don’t want him at 33.   Say that one thing and you erase all my Leggette stan posting lol.

I'm with you on most accounts regarding Legette. But---and I could be wrong, mind you---I don't get the "I just don't want him at 33," thing, or the "not at 33" thing.

I think that most Huddlers are simply not understanding that this draft is extraordinary in regards to receiver talent, and it all begins at the top with Harrison who is the alpha dog of this draft. Odunze and Nabers are great prospects. But for those three (and I realize it's a little contrived to say that), Legette would be a lock first round talent in this draft, and he honestly may still go in the first because all it takes is one team to value him that highly. People are dinging Legette for the lack of total production throughout his college career, but not truly looking at the reasons why.

If we take him at 33, I won't have any problem with it. Sure, I'd love to get him later, but he simply may not be available due to his upside.

It depends on what is still there at 33. I like Legette and do believe he is what Young needs.

Because I don’t think Young is gonna be anything at all unless he gets over the NFL/College open differences. He, rightly, lacks confidence in his ability to put the ball “there” on time. But if he does get over that there will be more contested balls. And that 2.7 second thing should lead to more of it too.

But at the same time I don’t feel this urgency to overpack the WR room when they just took Mingo high last year that should be better, and there is Theilen, the new Pittsburgh guy...

I mean, year we should find at least one more WR to add to the mix but if there is a killer BPA type that could help at C or CB or LB, stud TE would be useful, whatever looks best.. or a trade for one of the QBs will get us straight.

Might even remember that we don’t have a 2nd next year,  if you could get something an overpay that gave a future 2, you should do your analysis of that scenario too.

Brugler’s “Beast” is coming out that is heavily intel based and Legette is 77 overall, mid third grade.

Pros: vertical ability, contested catches, AJ Brown esque  traits but isn’t apples to apples.

Some of the Cons: Measured shorter than expected, limited production, and simply isn’t ready to be a starting X due to route running and his ability against zone

(Disclaimer I am not the expert some of you think that you are, and this is my opinion)  Coaches Dave Canales has a plan, and I will give him the time to implement it.  it's going to take a couple of years to see it through.  Defensive Coordinator Evero is in a tough spot.  He doesn't have the talent to run a competitive defense.  The focus will be getting him players so he can run his defense.  The O-line is our strength, which is very laughable since last year it was our weakness.  I'd try to keep all 5 together, You have some decent back-ups in Zavala and Christensen and a future center in Rahm. QB I would try to keep Dalton for another season and look for one in the draft.  Maybe look for a QB that needs a fresh start somewhere else as a backup and let Canales work his magic with him. Tight End Sanders is a rookie and playing like one but should develop into a good TE.  Tremble is adequate for now.  The remaining TEs I would clear out especially Thomas WR I would try to sign Jonnson to an extension by the trade deadline. If I cannot get a deal done than I look for a trade for him. I wouldn't take anything lower than a 2nd.  He's shown he can be a very valuable WR.  It would put stress on the WR room but I would learn quickly who is going to fight to be the next top target for our QB.    We have Theilen for one more season, XL has shown flashes and Coker when given the chance seems to be keeper.   MIngo and the other WRs are going to have to prove they are NFL WRs if we trade Johnson away.  RB.  I would release Sanders before the ink was dry on my contract.  He's a waste of a roster spot.  Hubbard would be my #1 back, Brooks would replace Sanders in the backup role for the remainder of 2024.  Get him a couple of carries per game so 2025 he has some experience.  Even fully healed I would not put him as the lead back.  Defensively we are a mess.   We signed players that may never see the field this season and so many of our good players are on IR.   Brown and Horn are about the only two veterans that are elite.  Defensive Line   I would keep all current players under contract.  This should be our No. 1 target if we aren't going to go for a QB in 2025.  In fact, I would take a DE only if he is a Hutchinson/Watt type DE LB I would let Shaq finish the year out and move on. Jewell is under contract for a couple of seasons and is serviceable.  Wallace is raw and IMO needs playing time to get better.  I think he was a good pick and will pay dividends as he matures. CB Horn is playing well and as of this writing he isn't injured.  He would be another player I would consider for a trade if we get GREAT compensation for, otherwise I would extend him.  Jackson IMO will be better if we can get some sort of a pass rush. Safety  Woods and Franklin are our best players but Franklin is on IR.   2024 Trade Deadline.  There are two players IMO that could give us draft capital to rebuild the Panthers.   Johnson and Horn.  Johnson will only net us a 2nd or a 3rd because most teams know he probably isn't going to stay and can just wait to sign him in 2025. Our only hope is that Johnson is the final piece for a playoff push for another team.   As GM I would make a trade if we get a 2nd or 3rd for him. Horn on the other hand would give a team this year and next to work out a deal and we could get some nice draft capital for him.   Minimum one 1st and one 2nd.   2025 offseason This really depends on what you plan to do with Young. I would start him the final 6 games and see if he has learned anything from being behind Dalton.  If he flounders in the final 6 games than I would trade him for whatever I could get.  I would try not to create anymore dead cap space for this team.  Those that are on the team and have one year left they would be Panthers in 2025. 2025 we might be more competitive but most likely not a playoff team.  Creating more dead cap space doesn't help.  My focus would be QB and DE as my top two priorities going into the draft.  My free agents would be limited fill only holes that require a glaring need of depth or a starter.  I would try to have as much cap space as I could for 2026.  2025 Draft  My draft is based on we were successful in trading Horn for a 1st and a 2nd and Johnson for a 2nd.   In round one I would take DE and QB.  Round 2 thru 4 would be defensive players unless someone on offense we rated high dropped.  5 thru 7 would be BPA OUTLOOK As GM I know it is going to take more than 2025 to fix all our issues.  But to put us in the right direction I don't go crazy on Free Agents trying to get us into the playoffs when most likely we aren't going to be there.    WHAT'S YOUR PLAN
    • ok but why did tony dungy write a forward for this book. he was already retired by the time canales entered the NFL, its not like he was the colts ballboy in the 2000s or anything
    • But what if OP is ugly as all fug and has trouble getting laid with anything over about a rating of a 5 without first having to pay the young lady? This would make it difficult to comprehend for some. Some guys have to accept that they get the leftovers of the last call of the night chicks who couldn't get taken home by anyone else. I refer to these guys as the cleanup crew.  They handle all the ones the other guys turn down and quiver in their stomachs imagining copulating with.
