Cam Newton spent his first NFL offseason basically living at BOA.

I thought he went back to college? edit: yes it Has been a long time, memory may not be reliable.

you can pull the news articles that talked about Cam Newton being fixture at BOA and in the film room going into year 2 because he knew life gets a lot harder in year 2.  He was fixated on trying to avoid the sophomore slump and correction the league makes after they got a year of film on you.  Sadly, it didn't work out but he was at least aware of what was coming in year 2.

Cam might of done some things besides football in his offseason....but football was very much apart of it.   I mean, most big time QBs aren't taking the offseason off entirely from football and unplugging from it.

Oh yeah, the fluff. I’ll take your word for it. I would always be glad to hear this about our top pick.

So what year did he go (back) get his degree? Do you remember?

we live in a world of too much info and access.  Just tell me he gained 20 pounds of muscle and has been working hard on footwork, film, and throwing to WRs.   Lie to me, Bryce.

Hmm. Under C, standard QB 5 step drop. I think 5.

That is something I was curious about.

if Canales plan is to insert Bryce into what he did last year in Tampa....I just feel bad for Bryce.  That's Carolina killing a career with the Frank and then Canales move.  That's not going to be on Bryce.  He will end up being another example of a franchise killing any chance a kid had.

If you hold the opinion that he was never worthy of that level of investment, which I do... It would be more like they made a terrible error in judgement and are doing their best to hide it.

What career was PJ Washington guaranteed? How much better is Bryce? He doesn’t measure up to what people expect out of him and I fault the people having the inflated expectations far more than I fault Bryce for being who he is. He’ll probably be a fine College Gameday addition. He is not what the Teppers and Fitterer thought he was.

Don't need lies on top of the bullshit we are told. At least I don’t. Show me don’t tell me.

I don’t expect the offseason to give individual progress reports but just something telling me you are conscious of the need to improve and show me your work ethic. That would be welcomed.

it's not being positive just to be positive. it's looking for reasons to be positive because i hate feeling like crap about the team. until this iteration of the panthers proves otherwise, i choose to believe that they can figure out a way to not suck and actually be fun to watch again.

and superfan...lol. i'm just a guy that always tries to look for the good.

You need to respect other fan’s right to be pessimistic about this team too.

Last year before the season, you told me to “just leave and stop being a fan” because I told everyone the season was going to be terrible. And it was actually WORSE than I predicted.

He is going to have to play under center some to open up the playbook. Throw in some PA and rollouts and I’m all for it.

    • It's really bad and injuries make it worse but they also allowed this D to come into this year with these guys as the talent injection on a depleted roster? DT A’Shawn Robinson (agreed to terms on sign three-year, $22.5 million deal) LB Josey Jewell (signed three-year, $22.75 million deal) CB Dane Jackson (signed two-year, $8.5 million deal) OLB D.J. Wonnum (signed two-year, $12.5 million deal) OLB K’Lavon Chaisson (signed one-year, $5 million deal) S Jordan Fuller (signed one-year, $5.25 million deal) S Nick Scott (signed) OLB Jadeveon Clowney (signed to two-year, $20 million deal) With a draft class like this — Buffalo's first-rounder (No. 32 overall) — WR Xavier Legette — Indianapolis' second rounder (No. 46 overall) — RB Jonathon Brooks — New York Jets' third-rounder (No. 72 overall) — LB Trevin Wallace — Their own fourth-rounder (No. 101 overall) — TE Ja'Tavion Sanders — New York Jets' fifth-rounder (No. 157 overall) — CB Chau Smith-Wade — Buffalo's sixth-rounder (No. 200 overall) — DT Jaden Crumedy — Pittsburgh's seventh-rounder (No. 240 overall) — LB Michael Barrett Mike Jackson has been good thankfully and super early with little tape but Wallace showed some promise in a tough roll on Sunday. They weren't going to build a top D this year but they could have also done better than that. We lost freaking Luvu and I think Jackson is an upgrade over the old Jackson. Brown and Thompson were not going to save that D if healthy given what was around them. That's on the GM and DC for not doing better. They literally missed on all but 2 guys so far while expecting their passrush to be an old Clowney? Since Evero and DM were here last year lets add 2023's guys DL Shy Tuttle (signed three-year, $19.5 million deal) S Vonn Bell (signed three-year, $22.5 million deal) DL DeShawn Williams (signed one-year, $1.1 million deal) LB Kamu Grugier-Hill (signed one-year, $1.3 million deal) DB Eric Rowe (agreed to terms) And that draft Round 1 | Pick 1 overall (from CHI) Bryce Young, QB, Alabama Round 2 | Pick 39 overall Jonathan Mingo, WR, Ole Miss Round 3 | Pick 80 (from PIT) DJ Johnson, EDGE, Oregon Round 4, Pick 114 overall Chandler Zavala, G, NC State Round 5, Pick 145 overall Jammie Robinson, S, Florida State That's how you build an all time worst D right there. Burns is doing nothing in NY. Luvu wasn't coming back anyways. I don't see how DM and Evero get a pass for such terrible work over 2 years. I would think a blindfolded dude throwing darts at a draft board and free agency board could do better than that over 2 years. It's not just a talent on the field problem IMO. And yes DM was AGM in 2023 but he was the GM's right hand guy and the pro-personnel guy so even taking that into context it still stinks.
    • If I am the Carolina Panthers GM, the first thing I am doing is making some requests of David Tepper. I want to overhaul the Scouting Department. Too many terrible drafts in the past 3 years.  Spare no expense, bring in a combination of experienced scouts and new scouts who can special in using newer technologies to aid in the determination of player success in the NFL. I am requesting an overhaul to the team's medical staff and injury prevention team. This team has lost a primary starter every week of the season, including many of the best players on this team.  I am not saying these things are completely preventable, but injury luck this bad can't be completely coincidence. I am requesting that Tepper seriously consider switching to a natural grass turf for game days. I am attempting to re-sign WR Diontae Johnson, RB Chuba Hubbard,  C Austin Corbett, OL Brady Christensen, CB Michael Jackson, CB Troy Hill, and WR Jalen Coker prior to the trade deadline (November 5th) The following players on the final year of their contracts are going to be traded to the highest bidder prior to the trade deadline if a buyer can be found. S Xavier Woods, P Johnny Hekker, K Eddy Pineiro, TE Tommy Tremble, S Jordan Fuller, S Sam Franklin, TE Ian Thomas, and any other player on the final year of their contract who we do not have interest in re-signing prior to the trade deadline.
