If this happens, UNC basketball is as good as dead and Davis probably stays coach for the rest of his life. There's no way the school pays all that money for two sports.

Probably the opposite. I think the powers that be realize that football is the new king by miles. It's been king for years but now basketball is way distant in the rearview. You need football to be a real revenue generator to help support the basketball program. Just look at the SEC vs. ACC head to head basketballs matchups this year. The SEC is absolutely dominating with that football $$$.

I think it's more likely the SEC has a lot more wealthy boosters giving up that sweet, sweet NIL money, than UNC and the rest of the ACC has than just football money.

If you're not SEC or Big10 you just don't matter

College basketball also suffers from players leaving after 1 year for the NBA, or skipping it entirely to play overseas or in the G League.  I don't know if it's just me, but college basketball athletes are not on the same level as college football athletes on aggregate.  That gulf didn't seem so wide 20 years ago.  But maybe that's just me.

I'm all for letting those one and done guys go to duke and Kentucky. Our last championship team had no long-term NBA players and only one 1st round pick. Then we came a few minutes away from another championship with no 1st round picks. I'm all for recruiting top 30-60 type guys who project as really good college players but borderline NBA players. Keep them around 3-4 years and try to build experienced, balanced teams. With the NIL money they'll be able to make they won't be itching to jump into the draft unless they're 1st round locks.

To have a NFL level pipeline of players in the State, got to be a good thing for the Panthers too. But, then again we hardly ever pick Clemson players either.  I hope the old bustard takes the Unc job myself.

It would probably help the Panthers more if Wilks got the job at UNC. Wilks may not care for Tepper but he and Morgan are friends.

Strategy aside it just seems that the freaks are leaving for the NBA before they even fill out.  Or they don’t play in college at all.  They don’t grow into their bodies until their 5th year in the NBA at 23.  I think it’s hurt college basketball as a whole.

Would you rather have a BB coached prospect or a Wilks coached one? I don't really have an opinion either way just asking.

BB is a great football mind and known for being a great defensive game planner.

But I honestly don't know if he's the type of coach who is good at building up young players and improving their game, that's not really something NFL HC's tend to be very hands on with, especially coaches at the point in their career as BB is, that's something that position coaches are in charge of doing.

BB getting that job would mean the players in that program likely learn more NFL style concepts and will go about their business in a more professional way, but I don't know if they'll become better actual players on the field because of BB.

All you BB haters please don't jump on the bandwagon when we win the ACC next season. Please keep that same doubt you had for Deion.

I love when people doubt these successful people. Do you realize the attention this program is about to receive with the greatest football HC of all time. Yeah it's about to get serious in Chapel Hill.

I can't wait for the UNC vs Colorado Nat'l championship game next season.

    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
    • I honestly question play calling a lot more towards the end of last season than Bryce’s play. I’m not sold on Canales as an offensive mind, I haven’t seen the advantage he gives on that side of the ball. Maybe that changes with the new coordinator so that will be something to look for. Either way I’m not falling for the same hook line sinker again this offseason. I hope we don’t settle for a qb just because of some weird attachment issues we seem to have as an organization to Bryce. I’d rather start the search for a qb again, now with a much more stable team and front office, then getting hooked for multiple years with a qb that under performs and is overpaid
