I feel like I'm going insane when I hear basically anyone related to the NFL outside of Carolina talk about how good Burns is. The commentators during this last game were gushing all over him, and indirectly implying that the Panthers were fools to let him go. It's infuriating that he gets away with only having one or two above average plays per game, and he gets called elite for it. Oh well, not our problem anymore.

It's because he gets 8 or 9 sacks per season on plays where he's basically left totally unblocked.  Like his sack this game.

As we beat on Burns, let's also not suggest that he "sucks." He is an outstanding pass rusher and generates a lot of QB pressures. He just isn't elite and he isn't a finisher. Similarly, he is excellent and pursuit and running down plays but gets beat up at the point of attack.

Otherworldly athletic ability, without question.

The commentators are paid to pump up players. It doesn't have to be true because fans will believe it because they said so.

And right before the game started, the sideline commentator relayed all of this rhetoric from Burns saying he was going to play with all of this passion and intensity due to the situation. Also saying he was so shocked the Panthers traded him in the offseason. This is why, you are single handedly without question taken out of numerous plays per game by WRs, TEs, and over pursuit! if Legette holds his block longer yesterday, he doesn't get the gift wrapped sack on the 1st drive. Guy is a bum to be honest. What an albatross of a contract!

Would he?  He got fired before the first one would have come up.  Would he have earned another year of patience because he sold off Burns?  I kinda doubt that.  I think that's the reason he didn't do it.  "No way I survive another year if I sell of my best pass rusher" kind of logic.

      How do you see it playing out differently?  Seems pretty clear cut in the Top 5 to me, it will be 2 QB's, Hunter, T-Mac, and then the 5th player is probably going to come down to team need with Johnson, Graham, and one of the OL in the mix there. The Giants and Raiders are almost 100% taking the 2 QB's assuming they're in position to, and if not, they're going to try to trade into the picks needed to take a QB. The Patriots are taking an OL, Hunter, or T-Mac, which way they go will likely be decided by what they're able to get in FA before the draft.  If they get an OT or two, they go with Hunter or T-Mac, if they can't get a new starting LT, I think that's the way they go to protect Maye. The Jags are a mystery as they really shouldn't be this bad this year, they have a lot of pieces and really could go any direction with their pick because of it. I also only see one more possible win for us against Dallas, we're not beating the Eagles and I just don't think the Cardinals, Bucs or Falcons will lose to us with their playoff hopes on the line.

      My brother is a life long Browns fan, (i'm still in the closet) and I told him what was coming after Winston beat Baltimore... we would eat his ass up every season he played in Tampa.

      Not that I particularly agree with it, but don't be shocked if he is in on 1st ballot. The ones that vote for him will say he was a big game qb, 2-0 in Superbowls, beat the undefeated Pats, has the pedigree, etc etc.
