Guess we’re just straight up inventing stats for Bryce now.

Also if your stats says the fourth best qb over any stretch threw over 172 yards once, had 3 TDs and 1 INT that’s a problem with the stat, not a compliment for the qb.

Now is a fresh topic and I'm legit terrified. I have already worried about this for the last two weeks. I think BY is playing better; I mean, come on, he was 43rd ranked out of 32...

My main fear is no man's land or purgatory.

Even if BY keeps pace and keeps playing a little better... The Panthers still need to bring in legitimate competition and maybe even toss a 3rd-5th draft pick into the QB room. Add a fields or Wilson or Geno Smith as well.

I like Bryce and I'm glad he's shown some good strides the last few games, but I'm all in on going QB in the first round.

The Clausen comparison, which I've seen here many times, is hyperbolic to put it nicely. As bad as Young was last year, Clausen only eclipsed Young's overall QB rating for the season twice. His best QB ratings were 110, 90, and 76. Everything else was below 70 and most were below 50.

I don't see the talent there in the first Sanders sure okay but he's going number 1 after that cam ward.. that's where it gets murky beyond that

Honestly Bryce is a conundrum right now I'm not really sure what we should do with him but I am content on him being the quarterback number one going into next season. I think we should allow him the chance to play out the season to prove that he's the quarterback he can be going into next season.

I would not waste a high draft pick on a quarterback because I'm not sure anyone in this up and coming class is as good or has the ceiling that he had with that said I wouldn't throw away the future I would bring in someone like Justin Fields to have him looking over his shoulder and give us a plan b if everything doesn't go right on a one-year deal.

I think the priority right now if tepper wants to make a big splash is find a way to get Travis Hunter that would be option 1AA because he helps with both sides of the field either way whatever you need defense or offense. Make that happen and then go mostly defense the rest of the way and we're cooking.

Hunter will be in Jacksonville

Committing to Bryce going into next season is way worse than mediocre.

mediocrity would be aspirational.

Andy dalton has a better yds per game avg tds per game and qbr than young this yeae and he turned out to be terrible.  I dont get the young love.  Yes he played better but he still played bottom of the league.  As a panthrr fan except for steve b jake cam a few matt moore and kyle allen games i have become use to horrible qb play but at least they seemed to try and get better sticking with young would be basically them saying wr are fine have worse qb in the league start.

Yes but if you only start counting during the last three games, which are coincidentally the best of his career, and extrapolate that out, you end up with a qb averaging 52/86 for 560 yards 3 TDs, 1 INT

17/28 186 yards a game, 1 TD, and an interception about every third game. Plus some random fumbles thrown in for fun

basically his career averages

Young has not yet proven he can't be a starter in this league.  There is still a very real possibility he continues to approve and is who we thought he was.

That hope and possibility are why you can't compare him other quarterbacks who have already shown their ceiling.

There isn't enough track record on Bryce to make any kind of decision right now.

If he continues to improve then he's our QB and if he reverts and starts to suck then we continue looking for our franchise QB.

The answer to Bryce all along and still is TBD.  Enjoy the ride.

PFF has it's problems for sure, but their grades aren't really spontaneously made up for Bryce lol

Going into next season with Bryce alone based on these games would be idiotic, but so too is judging him based on his career to date and not seeing what the rest of the season holds. His last few games have been decent to good... So we shall see.

We need a competition in camp no matter what.

We don't need stats when we watch every play and know what happened.

For instance a couple three weeks back people listed his downfield numbers after a game or two and we watched him throw a rainbow ball that I think Coker came down with.

That was like one of the two throws past maybe 15 yards that he had completed. It looks great on the sheet, you can point to his progress,  but it was a wing and a prayer that worked out. The progress is that he at least threw the ball downfield so we had a chance, where he would choke on that previously.

It is completely about his footwork, let's just see what happens.

    • I made this very remark back when people here were wanting to pay this guy 20-25 million a season once upon a time. A few people jumped all over me. I've been skeptical of Morgan but at least he was wise enough to cut bait quickly after taking a chance on this guy. He's just another headcase WR.
    • How do you see it playing out differently?  Seems pretty clear cut in the Top 5 to me, it will be 2 QB's, Hunter, T-Mac, and then the 5th player is probably going to come down to team need with Johnson, Graham, and one of the OL in the mix there. The Giants and Raiders are almost 100% taking the 2 QB's assuming they're in position to, and if not, they're going to try to trade into the picks needed to take a QB. The Patriots are taking an OL, Hunter, or T-Mac, which way they go will likely be decided by what they're able to get in FA before the draft.  If they get an OT or two, they go with Hunter or T-Mac, if they can't get a new starting LT, I think that's the way they go to protect Maye. The Jags are a mystery as they really shouldn't be this bad this year, they have a lot of pieces and really could go any direction with their pick because of it. I also only see one more possible win for us against Dallas, we're not beating the Eagles and I just don't think the Cardinals, Bucs or Falcons will lose to us with their playoff hopes on the line. And if we win 1 more game, I think we still end up in the #5 spot.   Jets still play the Jags and the Dolphins twice, Titans play the Jags twice and the Colts, so even if we win one more, they both likely do as well with puts us in line for the 6 spot at worst.  At that point it would come down to if the Browns are able to beat the Dolphins, but with that game being December 22nd and in Cleveland, I think they have a real shot at winning that cold weather game where the Dolphins tend to struggle. You have to keep in mind that we're also likely to have the tiebreaker over almost every team who might be picking in the Top 10.  The Patriots are the only team currently slotted in the Top 11 picks that would pick before us if we end up with a tied record, we have the lower SOS than all the other 9 teams in that range.
    • My brother is a life long Browns fan, (i'm still in the closet) and I told him what was coming after Winston beat Baltimore... we would eat his ass up every season he played in Tampa.  Crab claw stealin mufker...
