Our OLine = Over Rated?

well you also have to consider we had Jake Delhomme who sucked, so we had to run every play thus teams would pretty much predict us to run every time. Also consider the fact that the more teams run the more the chance of you getting no gain. I don't know if we had the most run plays of every team but think about mathmatically if we ran the most then we would probably have the most no gain yards.

Good find. And I've always thought our O-Line wasn't as good as some made it out to be. I always noticed our guys getting stuffed a lot, and just thought nothing of it when they broke for 50 the next play.

I've never really bought the "our O-line is great" stuff anyway. I saw the O-line as a big reason for Delhomme's performance (not the cause, just a contributing factor) last year. I also had noticed the runners getting stopped at the line, but I never really put any thought into it as the horrible passing game was at the forefront of issues.

Jake gets a pass again????? I ask again how many times did Moore get sacked the last 5 games of the season. When he didn't have 2 of his best 3 Olinemen?

What?

How about we grab another team offensive line, take out their two tackles and guard and lets see what they do

Guys, I am referencing some posts I made back during the season, probably in November. The things I talk about in my post are the things I talked about then. I never said the line wasn't good, but I didn't think it was the best and at the time I had blamed some of Jake's performance on the line, as at the beginning of the season they weren't doing a good job at all. Many agreed with me.

Seriously does anybody feel like this article has any merits?????

2 1,100 yards rbacks when everybody knew what we were going too do.

2 probowlers on the oline (Gross, kali) and 2 who should be (Oath, Warton).

And for the people who talk about our pass blocking. I would like too know how many of the 33 sacks were on Jake and how many on Moore? Moore atleast got rid of the ball if no one was open jake took alot of sacks. Plus didn't we have like 6-7 sacks in the 1st game against Philly.

You do realise the article had little to do on the Panthers right? You did read it, I assume? I hope you aren't making judgements on something you did not even look at...

All the article showed, was which backs got stuffed the most. That is all.

I think it was the other way around

If he knew how to run the offense properly and got the ball out quick enough spreading it around instead of eying Superman all the damn time he wouldn't have got clocked so much

lol at the oline being a reason for jake's sucking.

he did that all on his own.

I thought the first 2-3 games were bad on both parts. I felt the line started to shape up after that, though.

The flaw with these stats aren't the absense of the variables in which many people are speaking. Those variables were absent with every team so it was balanced across the board.

The flaw in the logic of these stats is that whoever calculated these stats failed to include opposing stats. In other words, the stats only give credit to the runners for positive yards and then only gives credit to the o-line for negative yards.

It's easy to say "Steward and Williams don't hesitate behind the line of scrimage so the responsibility of the negative plays go on the o-line." WRONG. The running backs are just as much to blame unless you have statistical evidence to say otherwise, if you are using stats to state your case.

You can take this same information and make a very compelling case to say that Steward and Williams hesitate behind the LOS more than any other running backs in the league.
