CP3 Trade? It's possible

you're saying the 'Cats would suck with CP3 and no Gerald? Really? Since when did Gerald start putting up Kobe or LeBron numbers?

And im not knocking on Gerald, I love the guy to death, my favorite player, but really, I'd take a franchise PG over Wallace any day. Paul makes EVERYONE on the floor better.

But like 8789 said, we don't HAVE to get rid of Force to get CP3. A Diaw, Dampier and Augustine trade with a first rounder would be hard to pass up for NOLA in my opinion..

Been watching Wallace highlights, we gotta keep him. The guy signed and made this his home when we weren't even making the playoffs. He showed loyalty to the team that gave him a chance (unlike most players) so I hope we show him the same kind.

Can still agree upon a trade, although in 60 days things can change.

That Can Easily Be Avoided (Especially regarding CP3's contract)

Dampier cannot be traded with another player until the 60 day period has expired, however he can be traded by himself. Luckily for the Bobcats, CP3's and Damp's contracts are very similar. All the Cats have to do is trade the pieces as individuals rather than in a big package.

1st Trade

Bobcats Receive: Chris Paul

Hornets Receive: Erick Dampier

Trade Machine gives the Bobcats +14 Wins and the Hornets -10 Wins.

2nd Trade

Bobcats Receive: Emeka Okafor

Hornets Receive: Boris Diaw, D.J. Augustin, and the Bobcats' 2011 1st and 2nd round draft picks.

Trade Machine gives the Bobcats +1 Win and the Hornets -3 Wins.

So technically the full trade would look like this...

Bobcats Receive: Chris Paul and Emeka Okafor

Hornets Receive: Erick Dampier, Boris Diaw, D.J. Augustin and the Bobcats' 2011 1st and 2nd round draft picks.

Trade Machine gives the Bobcats +15 Wins and the Hornets -13 Wins.

Don't get your hopes up..

Read somewhere, that if that big shot from Louisiana buys the the team, he's going to do everything in his power to build a strong team around Paul. I also read he wont buy the team if Paul is dealt.

I would love if Paul came to Charlotte. A lot of people, here in the Winston area, follow Paul. If he was to come to the Bobcats, he would bring a lot of that Winston/Triad crowd with him. He's always here in Winston doing some kind of event. Bring that man back home!

Everyone keeps bringing up CP3's relationship with Jordan. Crash seems to have a good relationship as well. I highly doubt Jordan will trade Gerald. They sat with each other on the bench at a ton of home games talking strategies and such.

chris paul on the bobcats minus gerald wallace = the bobcats will suck, period.

What do you think chris paul is, a miracle worker?

Stephen jackson still has an unreliable shot, but then you have no one to get the hustle points and rebounds that you need, and no, tyrus thomas is not gerald wallace.

The objective is to build a team, not destroy one.

Gerald wallace is the fulcrum, he's the pivot. A point guard is not that person, an all-star glue guy small forward is the guy that balances out the line up, with the guards on one side of him and the inside guys on the other.

If you're going to get rid of anyone, it should be stephen jackson. You can more easily replace what he does, and you can replace what he does with chris paul who can provide the scoring at one of the guard positions, even if the shooting guard is not as good as jackson.

what is this sh!t?

You don't understand the facelift this franchise is going to take in a very short time...chances are the whole front office will be wiped out and replaced, a good bit of the roster, possible rebranding of the Hornets(name, logo, and colors), and we can get an owner who will be one of the richest in the league. He can do enough to get Chris to stay.

    • I agree. I’d make the move because I don’t see us sniffing the playoffs and let’s be honest TMac, Legette and Coker better be our top 3 future. If they aren’t and we need Thielen to replace one of them, then we need to draft yet another 1st round WR, SMH. Suffice it to say, Thielen isn’t good enough to get us into the playoffs so let’s get the young guys starting so we know if they aren’t good enough. We still have so many assumptions about whether players are who we need them to be that holding onto Thielen for 3-7 wins isn’t worth passing on a mid round pick (3rd to 5th/swaps). We’ve had some success with later round picks/UDFAs and need depth.
    • If you move Thielen I think you almost have to keep Renfrow. You need some sort of veteran presence in the locker room and Renfrow would be good insurance in the slot. I'm sure we have Coker penciled in to start there but you also have to be keeping Coker in the back of your head as XL insurance on the outside if he doesn't step up. If he flounders again, I wouldn't wait too awfully long to replace him with Coker outside and slide Renfrow into the slot and keep it moving.
    • Playing the same role is different than having the same style.  Cam Newton and Drew Brees both played QB but arent the same type in any way.
