Harbaugh Leaning Towards NFL Per Schefter

ESPN doesn't want Harbaugh in Carolina.

That much is readily apparent. Fact is he may very well not even be on the Panthers' short list - neither the fans or ESPN's "insiders" have a clue. But to automatically discount the chance is foolish. Carolina does not have a long enough history or enough coaching changes to have a tendency they can reference and to claim that our ownership is cheap based on one year when history shows they will write a check when they feel it's appropriate is simply silly.

This. As Gantt said, Harbaugh is the 'belle of the ball' right now, and who wants to see her go home with Carolina? lol... not the nat'l media.

I'm trying not to buy into the hype and get my hopes up, but I'm really starting to connect some dots here... Think about this, we're the only organization whose owner Harbaugh is actually familiar with to my knowledge, even before all this "JR is cheap" talk. By familiar, I mean that he actually worked for recently. We were the last team that employed him as a player, so he knows JR. Only organization he worked for after that is the Raiders.

So, in my mind, that gives us a leg up on the other teams pursuing him - familiarity.

    • Some people will shift the goal posts but he does still have to consistently help the team win, eventually. Not only help but be the reason. That's what franchise QB's do.
    • One of the Carolina Panthers' newest defenders thinks their pass rush can go from worst to first. ESPN's David Newton recently chatted with outside linebacker Pat Jones II, who signed with the Panthers as a free agent earlier this offseason. Jones comes over from an awfully impressive Minnesota Vikings defense—one that ranked first in takeaways (33), fourth in sacks (49) and second in QB pressure rate (44.4 percent) this past season. And despite a historically-bad campaign by Carolina's defense in 2024, the 26-year-old seems to believe his new unit can be similar—or even better—than his last. "I definitely think we could do something similar, if not better," Jones said, via Newton. "I've seen it before, so I know what it looks like. I look around the building and see we have exactly what it takes to do that." https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/24/panthers-pat-jones-vikings-espn/83840667007/?taid=683219b347846900018fa10a&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter     It's the offseason.  Let hope spring eternal. (actually, I think we are much closer than this board thinks)
    • 5 total TDs against the Falcons was pretty good efficiency and he showed that ability to go off scripts and get 2 of those TDs rushing.  How many times did he deliver big time throws against pressure.  I agree we need to see this offense operate at high efficiency which starts with Bryce. When he does I hope the goals posts won’t shift to some other stat like QB sneaks lol
