Trade Morrow and KK for draft picks.

Then take 36m in cap space and turn it into 1 top 4 defenseman and 3 top 6 forwards.

Morrow has upside but who is gonna wanna play KK lmao.  Dude was straight ass this year on the power play.  Someone want him for their 4th line?

That's why Morrow is included. lol

Only expecting a 3rd or 4th round pick back. It's mainly to clear space.

You could give Bennett 10m, Elhers 8m and Marner 13m and give a defensemen 4m and have a little bit of space left over. Bam, got a new top 6 and a new top 4 pairing.

Marner, Aho, Jarvis

Svechnikov, Bennett, Elhers

Martinook, Staal, Stankoven

Blake, Roslovic, Carrier

Slavin Walker

Nikishin Chatfield

FA signing Ghosty

PP1

Marner, Aho, Jarvis, Svechnikov, Ghosty

PP2

Elhers, Bennett, Blake, Stankoven, Nikishin

Looks pretty good to me. lol

We played our division which was terrible. This year will be the year someone argues for reseeding.

If the playoffs were seeded by points we would have played Florida in the first round.

Well I don’t follow all the other teams, so I can’t argue on how much better they are.. I just know we the Canes did great and overcame so tough games until now.. as far as reseeding the NFL said no.. so should the NHL.. this isn’t the NBA

The NHL used to seed the playoffs by 1-8 in the points rankings for each conference.  Now they are seeded in a way where you play out of your division in the bracket.  We play in the weakest division in the NHL.

I'm hoping what I heard is true. Lmfao

We will find out soon enough though because if true the rumors will run rampant after the Canes are eliminated.

In that seeding Canes would be the 4th seed and would either face the Panthers or Canadians in round one.

I am still not really a fan of bashing your team when they have OVERACHIEVED this season.

Before the season started I think most of us would agree that we would be surprised and pretty happy with an ECF appearance (and even though the Big Lady is warming up, it's not done till she hits that first note).

This team took us further than I would have ever thought, I even had expectations of us possibly missing the playoffs so hats off to our guys.  Florida is a solid team and got much better at the trade deadline, we didn't although I'd say losing pouty ass Ratanen was a win.

    • Sure it does, maybe not every position and not every draft.  You have to admit the hit rate goes down the further in the draft you get.  Would you more readily find a generational talent at the #2 pick or #19 pick?  High picks are considered "busts" if they doesn't pan out, whereas guys drafted later don't have that level of scrutiny upon them.  Different expectation levels.  If Styles does indeed go #2, I already listed the rarefied air that he would be in.  Maybe he doesn't set the League on fire, but my gut feeling is he does.  Again, you don't take an off-ball LB #2 if he is just a 'really good' player.
    • To illustrate my point, I watched (and commented on the Huddle) that Rozeboom would often wait a full second (or close to it) before taking his first step.  I assume that he probably had issues with false steps, a faulty practice that can take an ILB out of the gap completely.  Watch Luke and you see a step with the snap, and rarely was it a false step.  Rozeboom may have had 100 tackles (speculating) but initial contact was 2-3 yards on the defensive side of the ball.  Luke's 100 tackles were made 1-2 yards from the LOS.  Over the course of a year, Luke was much more productive (more fumbles, fewer long gainers, more OL penalties, fewer first downs, etc) that Rozeboom, but on the stat sheet, they both had 100 tackles.  In fact, Rozeboom's inefficiency kept him on the field more (more first downs, fewer OL penalties, turnovers, and punts) so he should have MORE tackles.   I would like to see stats that break down those things.   For example again, Josh Norman was slow--4.68 or so at CB.  However, his anticipation speed was incredible.  He made as many plays as a 4.4 CB.  I had one coach (college--later became the head coach at WCU) tell me that slower players have to use their brains more to still be around.  Elite athletes can just get by on their physical superiority.  He added, "Rarely does a football player run full speed.  Most of the time, they are not, so the 40 time is misleading stat.  Smart players overcome shortcomings--when the elite athlete becomes average (slows with age, advances in level of competition) they struggle against smarter (football IQ) competition.
    • Obviously tongue in cheek hyperbole. But we do not need a first round RB to compete for a championship. We need intelligent roster building. That to me is the complete opposite of intelligent roster building because it is a prime resource at a devalued plug and play position when we have needs across the defense.
