Panthers OLB Pat Jones II makes bold claim about team's defense

Recommended Posts

It's the time of year where fluff is in the air.

Regardless I do appreciate his attitude and if we are to become a dominant level defense again we will certainly need more of this.

It's not impossible to go from worst to first.  We kept Evero because anyone in there right mind knew our defense was destroyed by injuries, not the scheme.

Evero has been given a plethora of talent between free agency and the draft, not to mention getting DB back. I fully expect our defense to be very good.

I have no reason to think Jones would say something like that unless he truly felt like that.

We will go as far as our defense carries us.

While I expect the offense to be the better unit, IF our defense can get stops, turnovers, giving our offense short fields, this team will absolutely be dangerous.

Boys get ready for us to find new and imaginative ways of losing games while having units and individual players playing very well. We are gonna need to figure out how to win as a team, but the parts alone will all do their thing I think.

i think it will be good. i can't wait to see it.

I will say that I am more optimistic this year than the “ultimate staff” we fielded i believe in 2023 that didn’t last long. I will say im less worried about evero, though he is a concern. I am more focused on confirming Canales to be the guy. Will be watching Bryce too of course, as the want is to confirm both Canales and Bryce as the “guys”.  Evero is more of a lets see if does well enough to keep. But i am excited.

    • Frank? When he came back his targets were XL, Coker, Moore, Tremble, Mingo and Jatavion Sanders. His major upgrade was Thielen when they played KC in his 4th game back. No knock on any of them. They were all great as role players, with potential for the young guys to be good eventually. But last year they all would have been the 3rd or 4th options on most every other team in the NFL.
    • I do think those that think Renfrow and AT are essentially the same are going to be either really mad or really happy.   Renfrow will not go out there and do what AT did.   I think folks happiness will come down to what Canales ask Renfrow to do in the O.
    • I think it sets up to be sorta similar to last year.   Hard to imagine the O is going to ready to be near whatever ceiling it will eventually have.  Young WRs, chemistry lacking, and all that gotta be worked out.   Canales isn’t really a creative guru so it’s really just going to be on them to get better and up to speed. but the schedule is rather favorable the first quarter or so.   in the end I think they sort of progress similar to last season.  D a constant.  O goes from weak to meh to sorta okay….but  the pass game will be asked to do too much and won the ready for that ask.
