Veiled sexism? Who said anything about hate? Let's be adults here. That's an issue with your own perception. And there are a number of other current female rappers who are legitimately talented lyricists. I make my own conscience choice to seek out those artists instead because they showcase actual talent. I'm not stopping anyone from making the music they want to. And I assure you the artists in question you are getting defensive over are making money regardless they will be just fine so you can come on down off the soapbox before you sprain an ankle or something. Appreciate the input.

I don't know much about her music.  I just didn't understand calling it horrible, because I listen to rap, and it's not like she has terrible flow for example.  Plenty of male rappers delve into the sex side of things.  I remember back in the 90's guys like Ma$e and Cam'ron had album covers with their shirt off for whatever reason.  Didn't stop me from bumpin the album.

I prefer the lyricist too, but I don't hate on the others.  I just don't listen.  I am not defending her personally at all, just the idea that female rappers should be held to some higher standard.

Once I no longer enjoy the music or message, I just put it down.  If I like something, I am passionate about it.  For example, 2023 was the last Grey Day for me, as G59 has sold out completely and gone against everything they stood for.  I don't say Scrim and Ruby are destroying the genre, though lol.

Exactly. It is sad.

Right and we don't even have to leave the same subgenre to see far superior lyricists. La Chat and Gangsta Boo are pioneers of southern hip hop that paved the way for the Glorilla's and Cardi B's.

Music and sex have been intertwined for decades I'm not speaking against that in itself. But that's a different subject from a discussion of quality. It's not just a problem limited to female artists. There are quite a few newer artists I like across hip hop and under other subgenres. But I avoid the copycat rappers who just spam auto tune like the plague. Much of this now is an effect of social media and the lines being blurred between glorified influencers who basically want to show you anything and everything and actual artists. I don't make it my mission to talk down on anyone I take the same approach as you and just don't listen. But this thread was directly Panthers related therefore I had an opinion.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree regarding some mainstream rappers destroying the genre. I can tell you right now as far as real lyricists and top notch production there isn't much legitimate competition out there. It's actually comical. And going even beyond that where lyricism isn't necessarily a prerequisite there are still vastly superior artists now and from the past. Thankfully I've discovered a number of stellar rappers and producers (some do both simultaneously which is even more impressive) who are outside the mainstream over the years and it is factually night and day. I know I'm not alone in making this distinction. But at the end of the day. To each their own.

Part of this is us getting old I feel like, no offense.  No artist has the power to destroy a genre in my opinion, and if they do, I would kinda like to see it, haha.

If groups like Public Announcement could have a hit like Body Bumpin' back in the day, and nothing really happen, I think we will be just fine.

People like what they like.  It doesn't really cause any damage to any other lane.  It's all evolution and paving the way.  Some of it we like, some of it we don't.

It's not like if somehow Glorilla was all over the radio or playing in the grocery store, it would stop you from listening to Immortal Technique.  The table is vast, everyone can eat.

I think most people in the fanbase like XL he has that kind of personality that folks gravitate to.

But visibility as an athlete for a losing franchise can be a double edged sword. You've got to show juice on the field that's the most important step to build a brand outside of football. If not fair or not the same folks will let you hear it. For that reason I just want to see him live his best life on and off the field however he sees fit as long as our franchise is moving in a better direction.

I feel we are already moving in a better direction before we even take a snap this season.  We have hope now.  People are talking about us brewing something special.

Remember how dismal things were when Rhule was here?

While I agree with you in spirit my gut and my heart says I'm not falling for this again until I see consistent results across the entire upcoming season. Then I'll breathe a sigh of relief and truly feel better about the future.

    • Honestly, it wasn't on him last game. There are many other reasons that come before Bryce. Dave Canales is really starting to worry me. I mean there are glaring issues that can't be excused. I said back when the whole Rico/Chubba thing happened. I said right then that you cannot have a coach that handled those 4 or 5 games the way he did. I get it, most thought that he was trying to throw games, which was not wrong thinking because of how bad it was. The decisions right before half. The strict "Chubba gets this drive and Rico gets the next." It's seeming like a lot of our backups are the better talent, so he cant evaluate talent. Not calling a quarterback sneak because of size. Small quarterback have a different type of advantage, just not as good as a large quarterback, but still doable. Then he doesn't even explain why he didn't put Dalton in there (saying it would give away a quarterback sneak is...just stop). I honestly think he forgot about putting in Dalton. There are so many others that I'd have to re-watch the games to remember.  I could make a whole other post on that defensive game plan...absolutely awful. And a quick petition...see the quote above, can we please ban these weirdos and try to clean this place up. This is peak reddit right here and these losers will destroy the board. I couldn't make it though 3 pages because these morons post more than anyone else. These are the perpetual online freaking weirdos banned from getting too close to schools reddit mod types. Get these losers out of here. You got these freaks posting a ton and not answering the question OP posted ABOUT THE PANTHERS. This is supposed to be about football and this dork constantly tries to attack OP's question. Could you imagine someone in your real life group acting like this? You'd kick his butt out immediately. And you have this reddit loser trying to stop people for posting about the Panthers. Any normal person would just skip the post, but you have to remember these morons base their whole personality on their online persona. They would be banned almost everywhere else. Send him back to reddit, they will be a cancer to this place, trust me. I guarantee you he has more comments than 95% of accounts. These guys are the lowest in society so they live online. Its everything to them. You dont want that. Just read his responses. Do background check on that guy, there are younger people on this too and he probably isn't allowed to be talking to them, or be on here at all.
    • Neither of them are getting in. Cam had HOF potential but was squandered by Ron, Shula, and Gettlemen.
    • We have attempted several over the past two seasons. Maybe two successful?
