Jacoby Windmon really flashed to me when he got snaps late last year, both in the run & pass game.

I researched bc I had no idea who he was.

As a redshirt junior at Michigan State in 2022, Windmon compiled an impressive first half of the season, leading the nation with six forced fumbles and collecting 5.5 sacks.

However, he got into a fight and was suspended for the last 4 games of 2022, then battled injuries and a nondescript 2023 season before being an UDFA last year.

PFF gave him a 64 pass rush grade (58/189) last season in his limited snaps, which is good.

Windmon generated 3 preasures and a sack in only 11 snaps as a pass rusher. Certainly not bad.

Maybe he can develop into a Luvu type player.

I do think he's got some legit upside and can claim one of the backup ILB spots.

I also think they value Jon Rattigen as a depth ILB and core ST player.

Evero usually keeps 5 ILBs, and like others have mentioned they also seem to like Wooten & Cherulus also so thats 6 guys there if you add Jewell & Wallace who will definitely be on the roster.

So maybe they dont bring in any further outside help.

Like others have said, if they do it will almost certainly be at TC or final cuts at this point.

I think you all make good points, but Kungfoodude, in my view, hits the nail on the head.  We play him, Wallace gets pined for a season.  Wallace (and Cherulus for that matter) are trending up.  Not sure we can say that about Pratt--we have seen his peak--we need to find out what we have in Wallace.  He needs reps and I am sure he will be better later.

Yeah, it's not necessarily about who is the best player for the moment, it's about the direction we are headed as a franchise. Seems to be that Morgan has doubled down on a youth movement, so why not see it through?

No, we just drafted 2 rookies. If we could get him reasonably....

We did not draft any inside linebackers. We play a 3-4 in which the inside and outside linebackers are different to the extent they have separate position coaches.  These are essentially different groups altogether.

He did. I remember watching a game and asked, "Who is that?"  Windmon's stats in limited play were solid.  I remember commenting on him here at the time. He had 3 pressures as well in 128 snaps.  PFF game him a pass rush grade of 64. image.thumb.png.2a654ad9ac12693f16aebb7f0ef851c6.png I do not see any help added right now.

Just like the CB group, this LB is good enough to take it to TC. Then see where you are. Wallace *should be better and he did set a record for tackles in their first game.....Laugh and nit pick, that's something given the history here. Jewell is solid and should play better too.

Like Cherulus, Windmon is fighting to be on the 53. Honestly I only see 4 guys(need to check my roster). Top three are locks, then do you keep Rhattigan over Cherulus AND Windmon??

I didnt even meation the UDFAs, Bam got 300,000 in guarantees. He's firmly in the mix.

ST is always overlooked, I'm always do. LB, safety and CB are where your main STers come from.

Your comment about STs is spot on.  I coached one season with a former UNC LB (Dwight Hollier) who played with the Dolphins and Colts as a player.  He said, "If you want to stay around in the NFL, you better make some noise on special teams." He said (paraphrasing) "The special teams coach has a voice when they are making cuts.  You want him going to bat for you.  A backup LB with no ST skills is a nonfactor, but a backup LB who makes plays on special teams is valuable. "

I rechecked my roster- 5 LBs

You have believe the top three are chalk. Then ST value comes into play, so early edge to Rhattigan.

So that leaves ONE spot between Wooten, Cherulus, Bam, or Tuasivi Nomura. If anyone can prove to staff ST value, maybe knock off Rhattigan to cut/PS.

This is perfectly "fine" for this team at this stage. Yes it could use starter level talent, but so could other spots as well. Other teams have this same layout, its not a bad spot. They have been training Cherulus for three years, Wooten flashed some after injuries killed the group, and both UDFAs got nice guarantees. Best man wins!

I will say this- During the draft I would have MUCH rather they used the 4th RB pick on LB Or even the 6th round horn pick, but I didn't make the Panthers board.

Look if all, I mean all goes right.....{hold/brace your ribs}.... And Panthers make a run in the playoffs. The 2026 sets up GREAT for the draft provided they are in the late 20s- LB, safety, RT(?), TE, and C. Those are prime spots in the 20s, 50s, and 80s. Now I need to wake up.....

It is what is is, Bryce better win enough games for us to be picking in that range or we are probably looking at QBs.
