I don't think Horn should be penciled in our a default returner at all.  He had 14 career punt returns in college.   That's not much work.

Renfrow has 70 NFL PR returns logged.   He should be the default guy penciled in IMO>

Sometimes the priority is just can you not turn it over.  You see rookies choke a lot at the NFL level or guys you try to make return guys.

Ok you've convinced me to go ahead and order my Hunter Renfrow jersey.

I could see Renfrow beating out Moore.  I really don't understand the love for Moore on this board

Low expectations and putting JAG on a pedestal. I guess I can understand. We've been in a bit of a desert of talent-rich wide receivers. I received a lot of smoke for trying to tell people that Philly Brown was JAG. Oh how so many Huddlers loved them some Philly...

JAG? Renfrow? Renfrow is a stylin, profiln, limousine riding, jet flying, kiss stealing, wheeling and dealing son of a gun.  A living and breathing Carolina legend.

You do realize that was in reference to David Moore? I don't think you're necessarily trying to be overly sarcastic, but I would classify Renfrow as above average under normal circumstances. He'll never be great, but he's the sneaky chain-mover that performs a certain function consistently well.

Renfrow makes the team and becomes part of the rotation-- then he plays well.  Gets NFL comeback player of the year.  You all cheer.  When I say, "I called this in June."  You will say "Pic or it didn't happen."  I will say, "you all disgust me because you are too mired in mediocrity to see my brilliance."  You will give me a poo emoji because that is how you treat greatness.   OK, I'm back.

Moore.   Worst YAC per reception in the entire NFL paired w/ a high drop % last year.   Or you practice squad Horn who is probably getting too big of a bump.  6th round WRs generally aren't year 1 roster guys opening up the season.

Yeah get him TF up outta here. He's basically a camp body at this age too

It's going to be:

N4lo

Legette

AT

Hunter

Coker

Horn

Moore IMO will be a vet PS option, similar to Matthews, and Boone last year.

Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.

Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.

Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.

AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football.

Coker?  Just getting started.

XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2.

Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks.

Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.

I really like David Moore. He's a reliable WR. Smart, doesn't drop the ball and he's where he's supposed to be. Now, he ain't gonna route up a DB. He ain't gonna 50/50 ball a DB. He ain't gonna run by a DB either. But he runs a good enough route and catches the ball - definitely an NFL average WR. Every team could use a David Moore.

Now if this receiving group can force Dan and Dave to let him go, then this team has come a long way since 2023. A LONG way. But I will say that Horn's speed is a big deal. They don't really have another guy with speed and quickness to blow the top off the defense and make guys miss in space after the catch, though he is still a rookie and hasn't done it in the NFL. If he and Renfrow push Moore out, then we might actually have something gents. Plus I see Renfrow as Thielen's replacement in 2026. I just don't think Coker is the reliable, move the chains guy like Thielen. Could be wrong.

Moore, Frankly is insurance. Its what he should be at this stage of his surprising long UDFA career. If the evil injury monster grabs one of the top guys, Moore can help with filling in. If Moore doesn't make this team with knowing he is a system guy, that's a great sign. Plus like was posted above, he can play on the PS.

People have been counting out Moore every year, including myself(I recall his 1st panther run...). He just keeps cashing NFL checks while the new wave of rookie WRs figure it out.... I heard he became one of those super serious healthy types with his body at this stage too. I mean, horn was the 208th player picked, thats UDFA zip code......horn just sold Dan the GM on his "Miami" mindset. Horn already had a hamstring deal and missed valuable reps, Moore could be the guy on the roster and they risk horn to PS.

I heard a sort-a crazy idea with Coker as well- let him transition to a hybrid TE/WR given the lack of TE with tremble hurting. I mean....... its nice to have a "deep" WR for the first time in like ever to come up with this idea.....

    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
