Quick glance says he is good against the run, but a liability in coverage.  2 down back.  Might be the best available at this point, though.

Yeah, if you're shopping for major contributors in July you're screwed. We were already paper thin at LB. This isn't good. We're gonna have to be shopping that waiver wire hard and hope someone surprising hits the garbage pile.

Agreed.  Let's be optimistic and hope we get lucky.

We should be high on the priority list, but  I couldn't find the current order with a quick search.  Everything was too outdated for me to quote confidently.

I mean at this point the guy needs to prioritize his health and his life if he's been in the concussion protocol for months. Just hang it up and go live. Best of luck to him and his family.

As for the state of the linebacker group in general. Just go young and rebuild. Shaq Thompson was not going to save that unit no matter how much some folks might want to convince themselves otherwise. Gotta let it go and reset.

lol

I’m not laughing at him still having concussion related symptoms, because that’s awful of course.

But I was one of the most vocal anti-Walker people on here leading into the draft.  And while I’d obviously have still gone with T-Mac, had I known this would happen, I’d have been MUCH more on board with taking Walker to be an ILB who gets used as a situational pass rusher as well.

Maybe this puts Moehrig and Ransom on the field at the same time more.

A lot of people questioned the pick because both of them are most effective playing closer to the LOS than deep in the secondary, so maybe this makes us use one as a hybrid LB/S at times.

Our ILB position is dog poo. You would think that would be a strength with Morgan at GM.

You would. But this regime has bent over backwards to surround our #1 pick with top end talent after early on bloviating about not needing to invest so much around him because he's that good. So there's only so much to go around. Especially when we are 4th in OL spending.

    • I am not worried about the contracts because any/all can be jettisoned in 2027 with minimal ramifications. I would like to land him because you rarely ever see an elite, 25 year old center hit free agency, this is a very weak center class and Mays is a bottom quarter starting center(love him as a utility IOL).  Ideally this offseason we solve center and draft a high caliber RT/LT to fill the gap for Ikey. Then next offseason, pending outcome of the rookie and Ikey's recovery you can jettison Hunt(VASTLY overpaid), make a determination on Ikey's ability to play(perhaps extend him on the franchise tag as a "prove it"), and let the Ikey/rookien situation dictate Moton. He can be extended on a LOWER cost deal or jettisoned if Ikey and the rookie can take the reigns. Either way, both OT's will need to be resolved, we need an actually starting caliber NFL center again and we need to get rid of one of these OG's. Hunt is the obvious choice as Lewis is substantially better across the board and cheaper.
    • That's not a thing. If they can't find someone, they either aren't actually trying or it's a poisonous job and no one will.  Yes, plenty of them have gone with whom they wanted already. That's not really the point of the rule. It's to force teams to provide opportunities. It has worked well because coaches that wouldn't normally be given interviews are given that experience and teams have also been impressed enough to either offer them in the future or pass positive comments along to other NFL owners/front office personnel.  Also, we are over 20 years into the Rooney Rule. This isn't some new thing teams have to navigate.
    • I mean, as soon as Svech scores on the guy, trot out your best shooters while the goalie is still in his head and go for the kill.  Last night made absolute zero sense.
