I had no Idea that Ladd McConkey hasn’t practice since July 28th with an undisclosed leg injury. With Slater going down I was wondering why Charger fans on Twitter were freaking out.

I mean, wouldn't Slater be enough? That's a pretty big deal.

I wanted McConkey on the draft but this was the concern about him. It was all about durability.

Let me see if I can do the over reaction right.

Travis Hunter is a bust.  He only had two catches in a preseason game against the other teams backups.  Jacksonville should have taken the guy I like in the draft.

Jacksonville is really screwing up if they're legitimately trying to use him heavily both ways.

The USA Today has released their official 2025 NFL record projections

Going from 5-12 to 8-9 is a pretty sizable improvement of 3 wins. I think there's just been so much hype around this team this off-season that it might feel like failure though. We have not had 8 wins or more since then 2017 season, which was also our last winning season.

I don't think it's realistic to think our defense is going to be good enough for us to do something crazy like flip our record from 5 - 12 to 12-5 or something. But I would be pleasantly surprised if that happened.

Random thoughts.

Tampa keeps losing key players

Abdul carter looks fuging sick

Jamarr chase is good

Tua throws ducks 80% of the time.  That hip injury must have really effected his torque

Kyle Allen is still in the nfl

They are both still relatively young. Kyle Allen around 29 backup for the Lions, Heineke around 32 backup for the Chargers.

IDK what Kyle Allen has been up to in the years since he left the Panthers but, Heineke had some good games for the Commanders when Rivera was still there.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
