Sure you do. You know what those teams did? They drafted well for years. They didn't trade massive assets for non-QBs when they didn't have the QB position solved.

Like I said, you're talking about Parsons like he's just some average Joe "non QB".  He's on pace to be the best pass rusher of all time. His value to a team is practically immeasurable. You don't agree, but others do, and that's why the Panthers have been listed as possible suitors.

No, I'm not. I'm talking about the Panthers as if they're a team with a major question mark at the QB position. This isn't about Parsons. It's about the Panthers' current situation.

And he's gonna put up big stat numbers for 6-7 win teams if we swing this deal. That's what you want? You wanna strut around and brag about having the best pass rusher in the league while the Cowboys draft in the top 10 with our picks?

There's more than one way to get to a championship. It's almost criminal how you're talking about our offense. If you think the Panthers should be scared of making moves because Bryce sucks and the rest of the players suck, or that Dan and Canales suck, just say so. Don't half-step.

I mean, it's all basically moot anyway. If they really turned down two 1sts, a 2nd, and Gary then they're not even entertaining trading him right now

I said early that this was a likely hypothetical. Dallas isn't going to let Parsons walk...unless Jerry's gone mad.

Not doing dumb stuff isn't being scared. I think the Panthers should stop doing dumb stuff.

I'm going to think that our situation is improving until proven otherwise. I like many of Dan's draftees (especially this year's). What I don't necessarily like is the contract to Turk Wharton. I also didn't like the Brooks pick (because I thought Chuba was good). But nobody's perfect. I think that with another draft or two, we'll really be improved. Good GMs can draft impact players outside of the first round.

All your opinion. I think that it's dumb to refuse to inquire about players at a position of need and see if you can work things out. Transactions are about the details, plain and simple.

He didn’t look great in preseason.

We still need to draft a RT next year.

that would be a great idea.  Expect an injury, and if you don't get one, he can develop.  Many OTs struggle as rookies--so 2026 is the year to get his replacement.

I'm not saying you don't inquire. You keep saying that. I have not said that. I'm saying you don't trade two 1sts and more then pay him the highest defensive player contract in NFL history. Do that and then Bryce regresses and now you're back to QB shopping depleted of roster building resources. On other words, fuged outside of an absolute miracle.

No need to inquire then.

    • Really? You don't see why a team can't draft a QB in the 1st round while then starting their former #1 overall pick over them while on the last year of their deal? It puts the team in a TERRIBLE place no matter how the season goes.  If Bryce sucks, you have to answer questions as to why he was still on the team to begin with, let alone starting over the rookie.  If he's good, then you run into the situation the Vikings were in last offseason with sticking with the rookie contract or the the guy who just performed instead of said young QB. It's one thing when teams keep a vet around as a bridge QB, it's something entirely different when that QB is still only in their mid 20's and was taken #1 overall by that team.   That just doesn't happen and not sure it ever has in NFL history before.
    • What is the alternative? - BY, will not play for less then his perceived contract (just like Cam Newton did). So you pay him top of market as befitting a 1st round, Heisman winning, playing birthing QB would get. Or you cut him. - Then we are forced to either sign a stop gap QB / previously failed QB and try to fix him or you spend a 1st round pick and draft a guy, basically resetting the team.  The reality is that we all want a top 5 QB. The problem is there are only 5 of those guys in the world and drafting, even #1 overall doesn't guarantee that.  The other problem is the NFL market. Young QB get paid. Even an average, young QB gets top of market deals. I know a lot of people here think we could sign him to an 'average QB contract' but thats not reality. Didnt happen with Cam wont happen with BY.  So we could let this season flush out and he is again a middling QB. But then we cut and restart or accept it is what it is (including compensation) and build a team around what we have.  My money is on the latter.
