special teams demon, 3x all pro apparently

29 years old

 

also was a captain at least one year

Gray, who joined the Saints in 2018 as an undrafted rookie free agent, was a special teams standout and team captain. He has been a first-team All-Pro Selection twice and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2021 as a special teamer.

 

he was going to make about 3.5 mill this year, we can get him for less than that I'm sure.  Not sure how good he is at safety though

According to PFF which our team cares greatly about seemingly, he was garbage.

168th/171 strong safeties.  Terrible overall grade at 37.6 with a 43.5 coverage grade.

This is akin to calling Karl Hamilton a good WR. He's a special teamer pushing 30. They probably found someone younger and cheaper who can do it and maybe actually play safety too.

He’s not a safety in reality. Doesn’t do anything besides ST, but is very good at that. With how awful we’ve been there past few years just find room for him somewhere and do it

What, cut Renfrow again?  Thread title listed him as a good safety.

I don't know too much about him, but all signs point to him being terrible.  Just find room somewhere and do it?

Who would you actually cut for this guy?

Perfect - sounds like a good chance to get another Nick Scott on our team.... We will have the best special teams in the league while letting every team we play throw it deep against us

Without looking at the roster, probably DJ Johnson or one of the waiver pickups.
