Zero competition and no backup plan

I don’t understand why we are in year 3 of Bryce and this team has done nothing to push him or have any sort of competition. Absolutely no backup plan just all in on a QB who had one of the worst rookie seasons I’ve ever seen.

Not taking a flyer on a mid to late round QB after his rookie season is baffling to me. Bringing back Andy Dalton after showing he is completely washed instead of an actual competent back up is crazy. Also how the fug did Jack Plummer stick around for so long. Dan Morgan talks about bringing in DAWGS so why does this not apply to the most important position on the team?

This would all make sense if Bryce came out his rookie year looking like Stroud or Daniels but not after your statistically one of the worst QBs in the league.

Because it doesn't make any sense with how bad this roster is. Why waste a mid round pick on a guy who will never be the franchise answer when we have holes everywhere? I'm not bothered to go look it up, but I imagine only like 1 or 2 out of 32 teams have franchise guys from 5th round or later picks. Purdy and....? Rattler maybe? Either Bryce is the guy, or we move off of him this year and draft one of the 4 projected first round QBs. Can't waste draft captial with where we are

I think the well was intentionally left dry......because if you put someone with a real NFL arm out there....it sort of becomes obvious to all his teammates the difference even in camp/practice.   And how long can you deal w/ that in house and w/ the fanbase?

Agreed, and that’s why it’s so frustrating. All the team has to do is say we are committed to winning and we gave the job to the guy who gives us the best chance to win. If it’s not Bryce trade or cut him and move on.

I feel like what the team is doing currently has to be even more frustrating to the players and fans.

step up like the last 10 games or step up to a top 10 qb for the year.

If he plays like he did the last 10 games I would still cut ties with him.  You are perpetually having to work against his flaws. Height, strength mechanics etc.  Just not worth it

He clearly should have never been drafted in the first place on his measurables alone. Him Turing into a top NFL Qb would have been a statistical anomaly.

Call me crazy but I legitimately think he would have lost out in a fair camp competition to a guy like Zach Wilson.

Most late round picks end up gone in a year or two anyway. Sometimes you may get lucky. That can’t happen if you don’t even try.

We spent a second rounder on an Injured running back who’s played like 3 snaps for us and then gave the current starter a massive extension, signed another in FA, then spent a 4th rounder on another one.

This front office clearly has no problem with “waste”

A mid round flyer qb is a wasted pick 99 out of every 100 picks. It’s the single worst investment in a draft pick. Case in point, people wanted to take Hooker in the 3rd round and now we have him on our PS

You could say this about almost any pick round 5 or later. There are a lot teams whose backup could come in and be an upgrade over Bryce. It’s baffling to have no backup plan. Look at the Colts. Brought in Danny Dimes and beat out their number 3 pick for the job. Looked worlds better than Bryce and the Dolphins are better than the Jags

Look at it as an investment in Bryce if you want. Competition breeds excellence. Let the best man win idc when you were drafted.

If Bryce doesn’t step up cut ties and move on.

Instead we got to see Bryce poo the bed in the opener for the 3rd year in a row.

the Colts signed Daniel Jones on the cheap  & won yesterday convincingly with who Daniel Jones as their starting Qb not Anthony Richrdson

the problem with the Panthers they cannot admit they made such a huge mistake & the longer they are in denial the more the team suffers as a result

& moreover you should know what you have in a player by year 3 ? that is if you have any clue whatsoever on how to properly evaluate talent

It does seem ridiculous in hindsight that he was the first person chosen in the entire 2023 draft and a player like Shadeur Sanders dropped all the way down to the 5th round in this year's draft.. We don't have a great track record with most of our draft picks in any round (with the possible exception of the 1st). I'd gladly trade a 4th or 5th to Cleveland to see what Sanders could do in this offense. He couldn't play worse than Bryce has on opening day the past 3 seasons.

I dont think Shadeur would have dropped as far if he had handled the draft process better. Having his own draft showroom setup and then all the BS involving his dad turned a lot of teams off. I thought he was worth it in the 4th or 5th because we had nothing to lose and it was low risk, high reward. At this point I'm just so tired of the Huddle being right more often than the experts.

Optimism belies the fact that coaches have egos

BY9 had enough of the "mental" attributes (or at least knew how to convince folks he did) that coaches believed they could overcome his shortcomings -pun intended

They thought they could bulk him up

They thought they could scheme him up

They thought they could encourage him to play taller

They thought but Doug Flutie - but Sonny Jurgensen - but Drew Brees

This is as much a failure of overconfident coaching as bad scouting

I think like people said we should have signed a vet rather than a mid-round pick, but I'm pretty pissed off about this. It's now looking like it's likely we have to endure 16 more games of this s***. It was entirely predictable.

QB's 3-7 round are far far worse return than any other pick. The Saints just wasted one on Shough, when it's so clearly obvious they are going to take one in the first next year. We did the same twice, with stupid Corral and that WV quarterback I already forgot.

Also, you act like the Panthers didn't just bring in Teddy Bridgewater, then got rid of him.... Sam Darnold, then got rid of him.... Baker Mayfield, then got rid of him.... Daniel Jones would have been the same freaking story here. The Colts are a way better franchise with a way better roster and actual stability at GM and quality scouting. This isn't apples to apple comparison. The Panthers are just a poverty franchise with poor scouting, coaching and direction and I'm willing to bet Bryce on the Colts would have slammed the Dolphins yesterday too
