Why is everyone focused on BY while the real problem is ignored

You know... I was going to try and focus an all-22 review thread on some of the "major" moments during the game on offense but seeing as how it feels like a lot of the more vocal fans would prefer reaffirming their feelings I'm wondering if focusing on the defense instead would provide better value.

Do your thing Ice. l've realized that some huddlers are just gonna complain. That's their schtick. I didn't watch the game live (getting too old to let football monopolize my Sundays), so I'll take a look too.

I'm going to agree with the original premise of the thread, at least to some degree.

Our defense was historically bad last season. And, from the looks of the first week, it's no better and possibly worse. We just allowed Jacksonville to get 200 yards on the ground on us. Rushing yards... frikking rushing yards.

Even with a good QB, it would be hard to give up that much, not to mention 32 points a game, and come out with even close to a winning record.

Bryce is struggling, failing, but he's not the only problem. We haven't had a decent defense since Tepper pretty much dictated that we move  to a 3-4. It hasn't worked and Eviro can't seem to coach on top of that.

No one would be complain if Bryce and the O were productive and threatening…..and we lost with bad defense.  Thats literally what we setup with our investments to be at this point in time.

73 yards rushing. Between our 3 IT'S

That's not enough to control any game. Let alone, on the road.

With a defense that constantly getting gashed by the run.

Sorry, I can't sit here and hang Young, on a game that our entire team sacked ass.

Not sure we would have been favored to win the game if we still have Adam T.

I get what yall, are saying it's his body of work.

This is 1 game into this season.  I simply can't sit here and bash Young, call him a bust, because we started this season with an embarrassment of an outing by our team.

Seems like almost everyone here blames Young for the Panthers losses while completely ignoring the defense and its impact on their record.

Last year, they gave up 32 points a game which means they had to, on average, score 33 to win. In fact, in their last two wins, the Panthers scored 36 and 44 and they still just barely won as the defense gave up 30 and 38. Having to score 33 points to win a game is untenable long term regardless who your QB is.

I have no idea why Canales decided to bring him back but given it was his decision to bring him back, Canales fate may be more closely tied to him than Youngs.

youngs turnovers and 3 and outs really hurt the defense.

Young was responsible for 3 turnovers and you are blaming Hubbard? One of maybe 2 offense players that did anything?

The real problem is David Tepper. Bryce Young is just one of his many mistakes.

Yep, and there is just no fixing that, and not really anything to discuss about it. I think most know this, a few are under this delusion he isn’t at fault. It is what it is, and will be until he is gone. At some point you go through so many coaches, players, and drafts and there is one constant.

Yep. Blaming Bryce for everything right now is like saying that one peanut is what makes the whole turd stink.

The internet lacks any nuance. BY actually played good I'd say 90% of his snaps. I went back and watched every play. The 10% that was bad though, was REALLY bad. I'm hard pressed to put blame on him for everything though, like the 2nd int and the time where XL ran the wrong route and it looked like he just sailed the pass. I think I counted 3 or 4 bad throws in the game which were on BY.

The fumble is 100% on him. That is like the exact same situation as in the Dallas game last year. Same with the first pick. He didn't see the safety, just like that Atlanta game.

There were many passing yards lost due to drops. The Renfrow throw (50/50 Bryce imo but Renfrow had his hands on the ball), Tmac drop, and XL not getting his feet down. Those were all chunk plays.

Bryce didn't play bad, just wasn't elite and when he made mistakes, they were colossal mistakes. Honestly, I think we should move on, I don't think he is IT, but too much blame for this game is going his way imo.
