Im gonna get heat, but they could have used XL today. They had nobody to stretch the field. At the same time, bryce can't throw it deep so it didnt matter too much.

You could leave Legette completely wide open 35 yards downfield and not worry about it - Young doesn't have the juice to get the ball there.

The blind spot some people have for this guy is insane.

Mark Schlereth was making excuses for him all game "You don't know if you have your franchise QB with the WRs they're playing him with. They're hoping to get Coker back, but when you're waiting on an UDFA 2nd year player to get back you have problems".

Ignoring the rest of our games, because judging by his knowledge of our players Mark hasn't watched them, every QB in the league would kill for T-Mac (he'd have had another 100+ yard game and a TD with a competent QB):

  • He made a circus catch on that shitty sideline throw
  • He had Gonzalez beat deep on the play where Bryce had a tantrum and smashed his helmet into the ground
  • He prevented a pick 6 when Young threw high and behind him over the middle (wide open by the way)
  • He was wide open for a hole shot that Young completely air mailed

Throughout NFL history if you've got a good OLine (it was very good before the injuries), a strong running game, functional WRs/TEs and a star WR you're expected to put up points and be competitive.

Apparently the guy we traded three first round picks for still needs MORE for us to be able to accurately judge him. It's infuriating - I feel like I'm living in the Twilight Zone.

Mark Schlereth would have absolutely eviscerated Cam Newton if he played like Bryce has in the most meaningful moments of games throughout the season so far.

This is the key. Regardless of who is out there at WR teams just don't respect Bryce's ability to stretch their D vertically. I mean, we ran a TE screen from midfield on a hail Mary opportunity because we knew he probably couldn't get the ball to the endzone and we ran numerous handoffs on 3rd and 10-15 because honestly Chuba possibly breaking a run is a better chance than Bryce completing a 10+ yard pass.

At least once Bryce supposedly audibled into the run, though I didn't see that play in particular to say.

But it did look like from the rear of the game, Canales has realized Bryce can't/won't use the entire field so he's adjusting his game plan, heh

Trying to be competitive seems a pretty decent point.

You'd have to trade for someone though, Dalton is absolutely washed.

I don’t think we should be even remotely entertaining the idea of letting this front office send off picks for anything this season.

they made this bed, they need to lay in it

TMac is a rookie and no Renfrow wouldn’t crack the majority of teams roster. Any team could of had him this offseason when we cut him

Renfrow is a roleplaying chain moving slot WR…..who would have had a huge comeback and the talk of CPOY if a QB could make throws to him.

Renfrow doesn’t work as a reason why Bryce stinks

Bryce has had open guys all season.  Often for big plays and can’t make them.   The whole no one is open narrative doesn’t work anymore.   Sure we lack big names but open is open.   Dudes have been open this year.

Bryce can only make limited throws.  And his ball placement and accuracy is terrible given his handicaps as a QB

Better receiver, better scheme and better protection. I would suggest you go look at Maye passing chart, he feasted on our terrible LBs

Four passes close to 20 yards down field.  In one game he basically exceeded the number of completions Bryce has over 15 yards all season.

Tepper made this bed, that much is very, very clear. No GM in his right mind goes into the season with Young and Dalton as their only options at QB.

Had a much worse set of WR in 2017. Even with that, we still made the playoffs and nearly beat the saints in that playoff game. The right guy at QB can make do. You don’t want that to be the case, but the right QB can make it work.

When we were screaming for WR help for Cam... Man, imagine if he had TMac. He'd be leading the NFL now. Cam didn't care if players dropped passes he kept feeding them and made them look great.

    • I hope Bryce balls out. Wouldn't bet the farm on it though. Morgan has to be practical though. He was placed into a situation where he was compelled to give Bryce a long look. There really haven't been any more practical options due to who has been available at the position. The Panthers had already put their chips in with Bryce, so putting more chips in by borrowing against the future and stacking on that by borrowing against the future without really having the requisite draft capital was a nonstarter. We could either dump Bryce and go dumpster diving for known and unknown JAGs at the position, or take out chances and let it play out with Bryce and hope for acceptable returns. Due to what looks like some good moves in the draft and free agency, it appears like we're finally getting into a position where we can take a swing again if need be without destroying the core of the team. I understand that you'll believe it when you see it, but Dan is gonna move on if Bryce can't cut it. There are too many professionals lives and careers tied to Bryce to simply accept the status quo.
    • Football is the ultimate team sport. No sport is more dependent on others for your success - including coaching. I don't know if Bryce is the guy, but I do know this has been a very bad team all around since he got here. One of the worst o-lines and coaching staffs I've ever seen his rookie year. One of the worst defenses and receiving groups (including TEs) I've ever seen his 2nd season - with a rookie HC and OC. An improving WR group his 3rd season mostly due to a rookie. The only other WR of note didn't really play well until after the 10th game of the season due to injury. Still no receiving TE to speak of. And lost games because of the worst pass rush in the NFL. And the only speed he's ever had on the field was DJ Chark. A washed up DJ Chark that played here one year and has had 31 yards receiving since leaving.  Carolina had no business moving up for a QB in 2023. They weren't ready. Especially if it meant trading your only good WR to do it. Now finally there's potential on defense. Potential on o-line. Potential at WR, including some actual speed in a game where speed kills. If BY falls on his face this season, then he has to own it. Situation may not be perfect, but it's at least NFL average across the board. I won't beat him up for being bad in bad situations on a bad team. But a 4th year QB has to be able to control the offense and make players/coaches right. The team looks good enough on paper to show what he can do now.
    • Mr. 0-2 every year to start the season in his career. Last year was the first year he ever played a week 3 game.
