The guy from Marshall with the Jets, Pennington I think, had a weak arm but he had some size. He lasted a few years but never did much.
The team says ‘it’s a big man’s game” and drafts a historically small player over every single other player. He doesn’t have ‘plus” anything and has a minus arm. It will never make sense.

Very true about Pennington but I don’t think anyone traded a haul to move up in the draft to get him, that’s what gets me about young. I mean essentially we gave up cmc and moore, our two best offensive players, one of which is arguably one of the best in the league. Gave them up for a guy who hasn’t shown any reason for us to give up the haul to get him. It’s year three and we are seeing the same mistakes he was making year one game one.

I still think Lance would be a good one to bring in this offseason.  Learned behind some good offensive coaches, has sat for a while now, has all you need physically, and has looked decent in the preseason and very limited snaps so far.

This is this approach that I favor. Bypass the big all in gamble and try some informed smaller bets. Spread it around. If you hit the payoff will be very good.
A lot of QBs mature slower than others and if you can find one where the light is coming on, that is what you want.

edit: Jake would be a great example of that. Wasn’t thinking about him but he was a major steal.

I am so with you on the price and the item we spent on.

Thats was from 20 all the way to the other 20 like it was nothing. Lol

Canales has to be banging his head against the wall in the office every week when going over gameplans and film.

Man, and these fans are arguing 20 yards.

And the speed at WR, that is when you can take advantage of speed.. A fast guy is wasted at 20-25 yards he has to hold up or he runs out of range. Great for YAC at 25 yards yeah he can run away.

But just look at that play.

Helps you keep building the roster which we desperately need to be doing. Lance or Fields wouldn’t cost any assets except some salary cap space with Lance being the cheaper option. You also can draft one if they happen to fall to you in the right spot. I thinking a Carson Beck or Taylen Green if they fall to us in the 3rd or later or whenever there is a lot of value.

Remember that this franchise was willing to give away the farm for Deshaun Watson. Massive red flag that we were less trying to build a team than believing that we just needed to hit on a lotto ticket with just one guy. That's not how it works. And no, we cannot make that same mistake again. I look at this staff and this roster and ask myself whether it's ready to support yet another high draft round QB who can win it all for us before we have to pay them that big contract. That's a no right now. Questionable coach, one potential playmaker with T-Mac, and questionable O-line with all the injuries equals almost feeling bad for the (potentially) next guy coming in.

Not so much the franchise as the owner. I realize its his franchise and all, but the majority of the fan base realized at the time that bringing him in would definitely send the wrong message especially considering why JR was forced to sell, and two, it would literally cripple the franchise for 4 years in salary cap and picks for a guy who was going to be suspended for who knew how long. It was epic stupidity on grand display and Big Daddy Dave was leading the charge.
