Rewatched Whites stint with the Jets and he played well. Big guy with a big arm. Looks like the kind of QB that Canales could work with and fit his schemes.

I don't buy into the high pick QB bullcrap any more after what I have seen on the field. Canales helped develop Mayfield into the QB he is today, older QB at that.  Many high picks just end up sucking. Is it possible that White could excel here and be the guy? Watch some film and you tell me.

Right now, I think any QB situation is a crap-shoot at this stage in the season. How fast can a guy get on the same page after no exposure to even a playbook here much less relationship building with teammates? Not saying it can't happen, but I don't think we're looking at a San Fran-type situation where the starter goes down and an off-the-street backup (because Mac Jones was really pretty much assigned washup status before the season) takes over and excels. 

I hope we hit on something. You never know. Baker was terrible here and went at midseason to LA and just blossomed. Then he went to Tampa Bay and Canales and grew into what he could have been. Maybe Canales can do that with Hooker or White. Sure would be something to see.

Banking your hopes on a couch FA that has a cup of tea NFL career to date as an almost 31 year old QB is certainly something. Especially when you consider that he has spent literally zero time in our offense so far.

I think that White might be solid competition and possibly be better than Hendon Hooker, which is certainly a very low bar to clear. 

That's probably about where the level is for White. He's a potential upgrade to our PS QB.

White wasn’t signed even to a practice squad this far into the season for a reason. He’s a bum.

We didn’t pick him up to backup Dalton since Bryce is out. We picked him up to provide insight into the Bills’ scheme and locker room, since he was on their team last year.

This is also true. 

Darnold was showing improvement miraculously under Wilkes those last few games of the season when he was inserted back as the starter.

I think Mayfield just wanted out of Carolina and was checked out he looks nothing like did when he was here.

Mayfield was #1 overall and brought the Browns to the playoffs.

      Hello there.  We are rolling out a complete overhaul of the Huddle. Why: Frankly this site is so old the database and antiquated software has gotten unmanageable. There is not much we can do to fix anything anymore. The new site is wired for the future including getting back in the app stores.    When:  Hopefully by early July so that we can test and recover things. After the migrations we will still have access to the old site behind the scenes to bring over anything we missed.    Wait, will I lose anything?  We are only bringing over topics and posts from the past calendar year. The tinderbox is being set on fire and rolled off a cliff. All it ever did was made this place feel horrible all while changing approximately 0 minds in 20 years.  The new site will only have 4 forums to keep this joint Carolina team sports focused. Panthers, Hornets, Charlotte FC, Hurricanes.    Improved Moderation  This is a clean slate for us, as such if you are a problematic member (you know who you are) that enjoys getting banned and coming back, we aim to make it much more difficult for you. However, upon the move your slate is clean. Take advantage of it.  We would love to get this place back to what it used to be. Nice folks with friendly banter centered around Carolina sports. We will be using the BAN HAMMER liberally to rid this place of people who aren't interested in that or try to drag the new site back into the gutter.   New Features With new tech comes new features we will be rolling out over the rest of the year.    What about the damn ads?  Fewer and less problematic ads. Again, new tech allows for this. Without ads this place gets shut down.    What if I can't login?  If you can't login due to not being able to reset your password from the login screen, email [email protected] with your username and we will get you squared away.    Let me know if you have any specific questions.
