Banking your hopes on a couch FA that has a cup of tea NFL career to date as an almost 31 year old QB is certainly something. Especially when you consider that he has spent literally zero time in our offense so far.

I think that White might be solid competition and possibly be better than Hendon Hooker, which is certainly a very low bar to clear.

That's probably about where the level is for White. He's a potential upgrade to our PS QB.

I agree with all of this. I would hope we don’t have to see him in a meaningful game, but it would be better than Jack Plummer.

If Mike White stans existed, this is the video they'd be linking constantly.  And honestly, I just don't see very much here.  His claim to fame was making Zach Wilson look like an even bigger bust for a week.

Threw for 405 yards at 9 Y/A, 3 td's and the two picks were on the receivers.

The scope of the limitations is so far beyond long bombs. Nobody here is clamoring for us just to run straight up go routes on repeat. There are crucial throws defenses know we can't convert such as down the sideline that almost always result in either the ball going several feet over the receivers head out of bounds or the receiver having to leap into the air and make an acrobatic attempt to haul it in or having to completely slow down or stop. It's off the table and defenses know it and sooner or later we were going to walk into another buzzsaw like against the Patriots.

Nobody here is in love with Hendon Hooker or Mike White. It wasn't us who made the decision to ignore the depth of the QB room two years in a row. You can whail at people for discussing it all you want. If you're that triggered by the discussion then call up Dan Morgan and bitch at him about the fact we are having to discuss the likes of Dalton Hooker or White. It isn't our fault.

I honestly think you'd genuinely want the Panthers to throw 400 yards and lose than throw for 200 yards and win. Like, everything you have posted gives me that vibe.

My friends that are jets fans remember him fondly in the sense that he had a Linsanity type of run for a very short period of time, and they all preferred him to Zach Wilson. But he was extremely injury prone and once defenses got tape on him it ended badly.

I’m seeing this from a slightly different angle. Yes, this is about the Panthers turning over the sofa cushions to find a warm body at QB, but:

I see the perfect opportunity to unload Bryce and sell at the peak of his market value, whatever that is.

His injury isn’t scary enough to really turn him off from a team needing a backup QB. He will likely recover from this with no major long term deficit. He has shown that games still can be won with him as long he is surrounded by high level talent.

This is the prime opportunity to offload the albatross. If they can just get a late round pick and get a team to agree to pick up his contract, that will be huge. Use the next few weeks to wait for a contender to lose their starting QB (happens every year) and then make them an offer they can’t refuse.

What does continuing roll with him at this point accomplish? It’s a bit like not offloading Burns early.

The longer the Panthers hold on to BY, the worse the leverage they will have when the 11th hour strikes. BY is a career backup who will become increasingly more expensive as the season progresses. Why keep him around any longer than you have to? This team will win 5-6 games this season so highly unlikely that they’re looking at a top 10 pick, so he’s not really helping in that regard. Everybody can see that he has clearly reached his ceiling so a longer audition is not necessary… so why keep holding on to the dude? What if it REALLY gets weird and they find away to cobble together 7-8 wins? I know, very unlikely but they still play NO twice and have always played TB close. The defense can stop the run and the offense can run the ball. It’s the age old recipe for winning football games.

Then what? Will Tepper let Dan exile his golden boy at that point, or will the final nail in the coffin be struck when he ‘suggests’ signing BY long term, since the team is winning and all? Tepp is going to be the ONLY one who signs off on shipping his golden boy.

Tepp hates admitting he was wrong, but I bet he hates losing even more. The WORST thing that could happen is to see the team start winning with BY under center. I pray to God Andy comes in hot and shows how bad BY is holding everything back.

It was like 2 weeks tops.  He followed it up 2 weeks later with a 0 TD / 4 INT performance.

They should have done it 10 months ago

Exactly! Linsanity was about 2 weeks also.

Even if he had just a two week window of incredible play, it would open up people eyes to what the offense would look like with a different QB than what we've been fielding for the last couple years. No one is saying White should or could be a long term solution, just a different perspective on what the offense could look like, and if it hypothetically did happen it would put major pressure on the situation that they've been half-assing

The Bryce hate is nearly laughable.  He looked like garbage the first two games, but has really, really shown improvement and growth.  People who know football are taking notice.  Will Bryce ever be Arron Rodgers, Farvre, Manning or any other hotshot gunslinger?  No, but I think he is a smart football player who has survived a lot more than most other QB's would have after 2.5 years.  So long as this injury doesn't linger I think you will see legitimate growth over the next two years, with a big leap coming next season.

Reich and Brown not working together, Duce causing trouble behind the scenes.  Starting WR's of Mingo and Chark.  No legitimate scheme for the OL.  Fitterer's general incompetence. An owner who was desperate for attention.  How did Zac Wilson, Mariota, Winston, Tribuski, Rosen, Lawarence, Fields, Jones, Pickett, and Richardson fair after 2.5 years?  We see what happens when the Texans have not given Stroud the support.

The 2018 draft had great talent, they just needed to mature, hell we wasted two of the top three drafted that year.  Outside of Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, Burrow, or Drake Maye, I'm not sure I really would want any other 1st round QB drafted in the past 10 years?

RELAX......  Bryce is our guy as we grow as a team.  The only other option I currently see is maybe a buy low draft pick on Drew Allar if he falls to the third round or lower.

Bryce is going to be extended.  He won't get Prescott money which would benefit our team going forward.  A mid range extension like Darnold or Baker got may be just the thing this team needs to keep growing.

If we don't extend him, there is no way another team would offer him more than a one year $10m prove it deal lol.
