Had no business winning that game. TY Freddie

I disagree. We were down 3 defensemen and 2 forwards. We worked hard and the refs were doing everything possible to make this a game. If we were full strength we win that game by 2 goals. Also, whoever is advising Rod from the truck needs to do a better job. Their second goal, was not a goal.

I think he just means down slavin ghost and miller and losing carrier and Robinson Mia game. Having to play 3 rookies while the forwards are double shifting and playing sell out defense.   I watched a team with heart absolutely sucking wind and out of gas. But they hung on.  Full roster, yea we win that by 2-3.

So, the goal that should not have been a goal....

https://www.nhl.com/news/carolina-hurricanes-colorado-avalanche-coach-challenge-x1595

Challenge Initiated By: Carolina

Type of Challenge: Missed Game Stoppage Event – High-Sticking the Puck

Result: Original call confirmed – Goal Colorado

Explanation: The Situation Room supported the Referee’s call on the ice that Parker Kelly’s stick was not above the normal height of his shoulders when he contacted the puck at 15:31 of the second period (4:29 elapsed time) – 17 seconds prior to his goal. The decision was made in accordance with Rule 80.1.

Penalty: 2:00 minor penalty: Delay of Game – Unsuccessful Challenge

------------------------------------------------------------

How the challenge was interpreted as a high stick challenge is beyond me. What I cannot find is what/how RBA challenged the goal and how it was reviewed as a high stick goal when Stevie Wonder could see the hand extending off Kelly's stick, essentially grabbing at the puck and it went by Freddie.

But the note says, "...17 seconds prior to his goal." So I have no clue that they even looked at the hand goal.

I believe what they were saying is the hand deflection into the goal  was not something a coach could challenge (although the officials could have called for a review of the goal). There were only three criteria a coach could use to challenge a goal and Rod had only a missed stoppage as something he thought he could use. Basically the officials blew it.

    • Yeah. That start to his career was about as bad as it can get. In New York, Meat grinder press corps, of the first degree,    When he came here he was on OC 3 - in year 3.  And people in this fan base that think they are smart, could not take that stuff into account.  Now, most of the smart ones are not Bryce Stans but Bryce gets 4 damned years free pass. At least 3  The fail of the organization AND fan base in general, fuging shamefully short sighted,  And the choking thing, players have to fail before they succeed. With very few exceptions. Last year was really his first meaningful, high stakes game. Okay, he didn’t play well. They learn from that, or are supposed to. You don’t throw out a guy with all those tools and with his rocky did him no favors background for not being perfect right away.  He might suck in the SB, but he proved a ton this year.    If we’d have had any patience he was the guy to use it on, not Bryce Young.
    • Darnolds OC when he was drafted was Jeremy Bates who was fired. He hasn’t had an nfl job since then. his next head coach was Adam gates who was fired after two years and isn’t in the league anymore. then he gets traded to the Matt Rhule panthers. His first OC was a hired WAY too early Joe Brady who was fired midseason and basically had to restart his career as a get back coach in Buffalo. then it was Jeff Nixon, who’s currently the head coach for Syracuse. the next season was the best he’d ever looked, and it was the first time he had an actual nfl offensive coordinator calling plays for him. The less said about Matt Rhule the better. then he sits a year and ends up in Minnesota and the rest is history. maybe he just had poo awful coaches for the start of his career. Maybe we should be trying to find someone who flamed out on the jets. one who’s a religious weirdo  and likes to bang married women  that’s right baby, Zach Wilson redemption tour starts now
    • Your last paragraph, painful. We suffered it all with Rhule and Fitterer and were rewarded with Bryce.  I’ll stop there, I have made hundreds of posts that say what I would say if I continued. 😂
