Yeah I just cant figure this team out. Some weeks our defense is lights out, other weeks it the worst I have ever seen.

Then the team has a ton of young talent and at the same time full of JAGs lol

I am still not sold on Bryce or Canales, which is obviously the most important pieces but its nice to be competitive and in games.

Nice turn around by this franchise compared to last year. Props to them

Lots of youth is the only thing i can figure out. Young players tend to be less consistent.

It is not his fault the Panthers traded “the farm” for him. He is a game manager but with the right players around him this team can be successful. He will be here at least through next year regardless. It could have fell apart today with a patchwork O.L. and playing against one of the better teams in the NFL. Regardless, he has several game winning drives.

9 game winning drives

You don’t draft game managers number one overall.

Bryce did not draft himself, nor did he trade what the Panthers traded to draft him. I get wanting more out of his play, but you can’t hold what the Panthers did to get him against him. Hold that against the Panthers, but definitely, Bryce’s play leaves much to be desired.

No one on this team is pulling me back in, we have an inept QB running the offense, we can’t win every game with 102 passing yards

Until we can pass the ball down the field, we will be mediocre. Win some we shouldn’t, and lose some we should win. We have to develop a vertical passing game!

It's a bit confounding sure. But,  there's pieces. There's the beginning of the return on an actual football culture. The 25 draft class looks exemplary.  Bryce isn't winning anyone a super bowl.  Let's all accept that and move on.

There's real reason for optimism for the first time in a long time.   Try to enjoy it.

I was down after the humiliating loss last week but didnt understand why people were losing their poo over it. We were still 4 and 4 and looking like the modestly improved team we had hoped for.

Im not confused by it. This is what I expected a team flirting with 500 could look like

Again, how is that Youngs fault? Thats solely on the Panthers. I agree he's not cutting it but it's not his fault the Panthers drafted him or paid what they did to do so.

Not completely. Bryce heavily participated in the draft process. From packing on extra weight and hiding it under baggy clothes, to repeated practicing for the S2 test that miraculously is hyped beyond all recognition then never heard about again, while Stroud was trashed as an imbecile, and when his physical limitations were being called into question, he chose not to participate in combine drills.

You could say it's not his fault where he was drafted, but I would disagree. I would say he certainly participated in getting himself drafted 1st overall and a larger guaranteed payday.

I think he is saying that Bryce materially misrepresented himself during the draft process so, in fact, he is at least partly to blame for be over drafted.

IOW.  Bryce gamed the system like a con man and should be held accountable for it.

Actually, I dont ever recall another QB packing on 20 lbs of water weight to try and hide their actual playing weight because they knew their real playing weight could potentially hurt their chance of being drafted 1st overall.

And Stroud actually said he didnt care about test results, watch him play football. We cared about a test and Bryce had the worst rookie season in NFL history. Stroud went to the playoffs.

With Dalton starting we lose by 3 touchdowns. Regardless of differing opinions on Bryce the players respond to him.

We lose when Rico isn’t the offense and the QB isn’t largely a spectator.  Simple as that.

Dalton and Bryce are no different in reality

Who wouldnt? The entire combine prep is exactly that for every single participant.

    • I watched a clip of all the offensive snaps. Young threw into some tight coverage and the guys made some plays on the ball. He also really missed some throws.  He has this middle of the field thing into a tight window pretty good and made three or four nice plays but he was just too inconsistent with his accuracy especially in the red zone. Today and in general.    That Int where people were chastising Legette for ‘not fighting through the coverage’, he in no way could have gotten to that ball. IMO. I think he thought it was going to hit the ground and didn’t see the defender coming for it. But not sure what he could have done. The camera doesn’t show the spatial relationship very well, I think the ball was way off. maybe 6 feet or more off target to the inside of the field.  Rico is a beast. And a very good receiver.   That was my impression without dissecting and rewinding, just letting the video roll. I did rewind the int two or three times to look at that one.
    • My biggest issue with keeping Darnold, which I felt we should have done, is we would still have Fitterer. And everything that came with that.  I think Morgan is going to be good.  Baker, just did not play well at all here. Not sure what else we were supposed to take away from it at the time.  That’s my short ‘I don’t want to argue about it’ take.
    • Even if we somehow make the playoffs we will be one and done so fast. Seattle, Rams, TB, Panthers, Detroit and Philly are all better than us.
