Why do people think Bryce Young won this game yesterday?

I think you are severely underestimating just how bad Bryce Young has been in his career to date statistically.  Does that mean he'll ALWAYS be that bad? No, of course not. Perhaps some day that'll change.

Lawrence wasn't a bigger bust, because he's actually produced significantly more, unless your definition of bust is not actual play but media/fan expectations - in which case, Bryce's was also very high, so I'm not really sure, and if you're talking expectations you have to talk cost because that is part of what built those expectations.

Just in terms of pure play to date, Lawrence has been significantly better than Bryce Young and has two decent seasons. Is he a good QB? I don't think so. 

That's the hype versus expectations. Lawrence is immensely worse on that scale.

Now price obtained versus result is immensely against Bryce, however.

I agree Lawrence is clearly the better NFL QB. I do genuinely think he is also the bigger bust, however. That generational talent tag doesn't come around often. He is one of the worst to ever get it in my lifetime.

If you asked me which situation I would rather be in today? Ours. Lawrence already got a mega contract. We still have the chance to get out relatively cheaply. Now if that doesn't happen....oh wee mayne.

Right now, he's on the right side of it. Like it or not.

Am I a big fan of his performance? No, not at all. Am I looking at this realistically in the time frame we are living right now? Yeah. Is this sustainable? I don't know. And you don't either.

But kicking the kid after the team wins a game just seems disingenuous and petty. He didn't lose us this game. Did he win it? That last drive to get to the field goal was pretty well run by him. He didn't shrink and just let the thing go to overtime. 

Don't take it away from him because for some reason you think that statistically he doesn't deserve it. After a loss? Sure if it's warranted. But that win was on everyone, including him. We were vast underdogs going into that game. And yet, here we are, one game behind the Bucs for the division lead and way out in front of the Falcons and Saints. 

Enjoy that. Even if it only lasts for a moment.

Oh definitely, we are in a better situation. Now if you're saying which QB do I want for a season in a bubble, different thing. But ideally I'd be able to choose someone else lol.

100% agree. If I could "upgrade" to Lawrence, I would do it in a heartbeat. He's basically Panthers Edition Sam Darnold and that is an improvement over Bryce. Not much of one but still an improvement.

By that same measure though, Cam was slightly above average. 69-63-1 with Carolina. It’s a team game and I don’t think anyone who watched the entire game can say with sincerity that Bryce’s play through the entire game carried us to a win. What he did was nothing more than you’d expect from any NFL QB not named Andy Dalton.

Not diminishing the win but he was probably not one of our ten best performers that day. His part was relatively small by starting QB standards.

Even PFF has him as one of the worst players in a Panthers uniform on Sunday... and I feel like he usually does decently with PFF, lol
