Chuba is a better back than Rico.

Dowdle ain't been doing poo between the tackles when other teams commit to the run. Chuba can at least fall forward. At least

Dowdle is too patient for that kind of box...  although if we had Hunt healthy it proh wouldn't matter

Chuba had 1 good game out of a 13 week season cut it out.

He definitely has the fresher legs at this point.

But Rico was still almost as productive as Chuba was in his best game of the season.

Dude, Chuba hasn't even been in on the regular this season, but we know what he can do because we've seen it already. Dowdle isn't built to be an RB1. Sure, he's been productive, but his stats were passed against some sketchy run defenses. I told someone earlier this season that Chuba could have done it just as well, but of course this is dependent upon him being healthy.

If you're suggesting that Dowdle was almost as good as Chuba today, then that's not true. Chuba was the better back today, and he's the better back over time.

Chuba is a better back. Chuba shows just as much patience---you can't argue that one of Chuba's strengths is patience before choosing his hole and exploding through it. Dowdle is patient, but lots of times he's too patient (hippity hop with his feet) and hits the hole a little too late which minimizes his yardage on those plays.

He's a good change-of-pace back, but he's not a legit starter. He's not built for that.

That's a hot take man.

Rico literally sparked our season back alive again when Chubba went down.

I admit he hasn't been running as well the past few games. But that's why you have 2 good RBs. You run the guy that has the hot hand, in that particular game.

That's what Canales did today. Rico actually still had a solid day overall with yards from scrimmage. We had 30 something runs vs 19 passes. That made the Rams respect the run and probably played a huge roll in us being able to score enough points to win this game.

Chubba got 17 carries and Rico got 16 carries. Chubba had 124 yards from scrimmage with a TD and Rico still had 74 yards from scrimage with 0 TDs. 74 yards is pretty important in a close game, that sideline catch for a 1st down was a key play he had.

Dude there's nothing in Chuba game that proves he's better, not burst, not vision, not hands.

The only thing I'll concede Rico seems to wear down.

Chuba couldn't have done anything he's never done before, this year isn't the first time the Panthers have played some sketchy defenses.

Hate I have to throw shade at Chuba after his best game of the season but this is ridiculous.

Maybe Chuba will rush for 100 yards in a game in this season, this was his best by far.

Rico did his job when Chuba was injured, but he needs to be the RB2, not the RB1 (and his body isn't built for the pounding anyway if we look at history).

I wouldn't say that Dowdle can't be a number 1 back, but you're right about the hits he takes. Rico is fun to watch, but he RUNS HARD. The punishment he takes (and dishes out) takes it toll over the course of the season.  He needs to have his carries monitored throughout a game/season.

I think the same can be said for Chuba. Chuba didn't look that explosive earlier this year and we now know that he wasn't fully healthy. He looks healthy again its showing on the field.

Dowdle looked like the best back in the NFL for several weeks. He's dropped off a bit and now he seems a little banged up.

I think both guys will look good after our upcoming bye week.

I think Canales used both backs well today. They combined for 35 carries and 141 yards on the ground and 4 catches for 62 yards and a TD.

2 backs that you can debate who is better when they both can be solid...a good thing.

that is the real answer, both of them are solid.

Jonathon Brooks was a game breaker in college but god knows what he has left now after the 2 acl injuries. Etienne has looked decent.

So you (and others) don't think that a healthy Chuba, given the same opportunities (if Dowdle was hurt) to hog up all the production would've done the same thing?

Let's not forget that Chuba Hubbard ran for more yards than Dowdle with a slightly better YPC average with an O-line that was ranked a little lower than the Cowboys in 2024.

This is a hot take. They’re both very good running backs. Pissed Mcvay off pretty good with them.

chuba was the hot hand today. as long as we keep the guy on the field who’s making the most ground, and sprinkle in the other at the right situation we can really pick apart teams.

i think Rico is a bit banged up remember he carried us through the Chuba injury this is why you need two good running backs. And teams draft them every chance they can late.

i still think Dave can improve here. He has to be able to recognize who is the hot hand sooner. Rico was banged up the first couple plays of the game. And Chuba was churning out hard earned yards. Start Rico, and if it becomes a 4 yard and cloud of dust game put in Chuba.

chuba won some very hard earned first downs today. I was grateful he’s there today.
