Chuba is a better back than Rico.

As for all the people hyping up Dowdle and downplaying Chuba for the hundreth time, the likelihood of Chuba getting chopped in favor of Dowdle is not very high. There is probably even less of a likelihood that he's our RB1 once a healthy JB enters the equation. That's just the way it is.

JB shouldn’t even be a thought IMO.  Bonus if he ever matters for us.

I approve of that message, but do we have the capital---draft and real---to make an impact?

Intellectually, I think this may be true, but I have a difficult time believing that this is in the realm of reality, especially the 1a part of the equation. I know that it seems like we've been down this road before, but the remaining regular season games may just tell the story about how serious the need is for a QB. And even with that, I hope that this FO hasn't already made up its mind that we have our short or long term answer at the position. Moreover, keep in mind that Bryce is actually playing for something more than moral victories this time.

If BY comes back, they 100% need to bring in legit competition.

Heres what as you are alluding too. This team can either sign Icky&Mays or BY, I do not see both without cuts/trades/etc. My vote is for Icky&Mays, draft a QB....

Glad we have both of them.  I think Rico is more explosive, but Chuba is a grinder who really finishes runs strong.  I also think Chuba looked really bad initially coming back from that injury, because as he admitted, he wasn’t 100%.  Now, I think Rico is banged up and Chuba is back fully healthy.  Thankful for the bye week being scheduled when it was.

I think Dowdle is an overall better RB but not by a wide margin. That’s why it’s all about riding the hot hand in the specific game since their talent level is so close.  Canales did a great job today leaning on Chuba with how hard he was running. Nice seeing his burst back.

I hope the anger was always about the "hot hand" part. People mad at Chuba were just being stupid. Did he probably rush back a little too soon? For sure. But has he been a very good player for us the past 2-3 seasons, abso-fuging-lutely.

Chuba can’t catch and Rico can’t pass block consistently. Together they are the worst third down back of all time. Rico is faster, give me his big play potential over the 3 yards and a cloud of dust Hubbard.

Early we brought Hubbard in on third, which I think is the right move. Canales made the right call with giving him more touches today. Chuba had the juice today and it energized the offense, same way Rico did in other games.

Hubbard has gotten a lot better at catching passes

I'd love to see what Dave could do with Sam Howell (realistic pick up)

Yeah. He caught one today for 6. I guess he’s gone from diamond hands to gypsum hands, but they still stone. I expect a third of the balls in his direction to ricochet into the stands.

He was a reasonably reliable receiver last season.

He took a while to get back to form this year after the injury.

Last week.

The only thing last week shows is even the games you claim Chuba looked better he still had worse stats.

Rushing

Dowdle: 6 carries, 38 yards, 6.3 avg.

Hubbard: 3 carries, 16 yards, 5.3 avg.

Receiving

Dowdle: 4 catches, 36 yards, 9.0 avg

Hubbard: 4 catches, 27 yards, 6.8 avg
