i am just done watching him.  he has shown he is not it.  he had a decent game still just 3rd 200 plus yards of the season.  he wins win rest of team does everything.  defense does amazing 3 turnovers. and rbs go off.  if either of them falter i have yet to see him put the team on his back...if he does that rest of year yes year 5.  but please please please do not let him return with 0 real competition

Im not sure, but Bryce strikes me as the kind of guy who would get upset and possibly ask for a trade if we bring in any real competition.

I have reluctantly come to the realization that Bryce isn't going to get dumped like I had hoped, but he's way too inconsistent in my opinion.

I don't get the point of mentioning what we spent on him; we're simply way past getting what we paid for in terms of someone who can consistently be a franchise QB, now it's all about determining if he can be a quality game manager who doesn't lose you the game with his play and has the occasional great game. He hasn't proven that he can be that in my mind, and my expectations are relatively low for him at this point. All that being said, I don't have a problem seeing Bryce competing next season (provided he doesn't have three stinking games to end the season). I would like to bring in a legit vet, and consider drafting someone like Drew Allar with a day three pick (and considering what goes on with the kid between now and the draft, maybe a late day two pick, but that's a lifetime away right now).

I'll put it this way: I think drafting Drew Allar with a day 3 pick would

Really they could pick up 2 new QBs. Draft a dude and get a veteran to replace Dalton. I'd literally keep 3 QBs on the active roster next year and let the best man win the QB competition in the off season.

That's what I, ME, would do. I don't expect the Panthers to do that though, they probably feel a lot stronger about Bryce than the general fanbase does. Because they're so invested into him they desperately want him to succeed.

Yea man, we need to see how he does for the rest of the season. But this game was a huge statement game from him in terms of the argument to keep him.

If Bryce has a couple more statement games  (I count the last ATL game and this Rams game as "statement" games), let's say vs the Buccaneers once and the Seachickens once, and we win the division?? He's getting a new contract sooner rather than later.

If he plays like dog poo for the rest of the year and we lose the remainder of our games?? He might not get a 5th year option exercised and you may see him just straight up play out his 4th year and a VERY hard decision will be made in 2026

The most likely path? Bryce has a few bad games , 1 or 2 more good games. We barely miss out on winning the division.  He gets his 5th year option picked up, but doesn't get an extension. I think that's where we are headed.

A couple of absurd things happened. Pulling off of those 4th down completions not just for a 1st but long TDs was nuts. Everything had to be right, almost perfect. Twice.

Exciting as hell to watch that game.

Problem is, he makes one statement one week and the next makes just as big a statement as to how much he can suck.

I don’t know how you count on getting good Bryce when you are in a season that is at least half full of bad games.

This is a mess.

I think you are largely seeing the law of averages that takes place when a subpar QB gets never ending reps at QB.   It’s mostly bad.  But you are going to get some good.   I don’t think it’s that complicated at this point

but play a PJ Walker in enough games he will throw the longest TD pass in a NFL season.

Backup QB/Fitzmagic effect.

Give them enough time and you will see some good tape. Then eventually it will all fall apart as consistency is never achievable.

Hence why I am just off the Bryce train entirely. He has had enough time to get some sort of consistency and it hasn't happened. The highs can be fairly high but the lows are just so cripplingly low and happen more often.

    • I would hardly call yesterdays defensive performance improved. Take away those turnovers and the Rams probably score 49 points. The defense gave up 246 yards in the first half alone. Their running backs averaged over 6 yards a carry over the game. They could not stop them. I do not know how you can claim it was their stellar perfomance that won the game. Young completes 75% of his passes, converts all 3 of his 4th down attempts and accounted for all 3 offensive TD's and you still claim he was the weak spot yesterday.  Your hate knows no bounds.
    • Lying? What is the above? Packers 2023 was basically the 4th quarter. And it was really good but it was basically maybe 1/3 of the game.  And you will recall he followed that up with two 0 point efforts to finish the year.  What happened in the 1st half of this years Cardinals game? Who won it?  Miami, he made three or four good passes after putti g us in a deep hole all by himself, and Rico and the OL crushed it to take control of that game.    Dallas this year he had crap numbers but played well for all 4 quarters which sort of stood alone. That isn’t what he usually does.  Yesterday, was really good. Absolutely. Answered probably my biggest criticism by throwing the ball downfield.  That LA defense was asleep. And I am grateful to them. That poo is on film now, Let’s see what adjustments get made because that was too easy. If it was your defense that gave it up you would be screaming how did you let that guy beat you over the top?
    • I know we have a few film study people in this group..  Last year was infuriating (with no players) this year you can start to 'see it' coming together.. and like Mr Scott said, Evero is likely here to stay. Can someone do a deep dive in the philosophy of this defense and how its supposed to work? .. the deeper the dive the better 🙂
