I still think in the grand scheme, it's better to let either Hubbard or Rico operate in the lead position.  Both are just flat out best with volume.  I think the 50/50 split over the course of an extended window limits how good the rush can be any given Sunday.

I've watched that pass he took for a TD several times this week and amazed at how he just exploded past the defense.  I know the closest ones to him were coming off blocks, but still, he went by them like they were backing up.  Glad to see him getting back to his old self.

Me too. Getting into a rhythm is so understated, but important in my opinion.

I just think Chuba should be the lead back---definitely the short-yardage back---and Rico the change of pace guy.

That being said, it's not a black and white proposition which is why I still think Canales is having a confusing time trying to balance.

Give them both early reps and see who has the hot hand.  I have noticed Chubba running more like Rico these past few games.  Not so much pitter pattering at the line and just bulldozing for whatever he can get.

I like the way both are running now.  It's a good thing to have.  DC just needs to be ready to put the lion share of carries with the back that seems to be having a better start.

I just hope it isn't like before where it was you get this series I get the next.  Doesn't work

I don't disagree.  Hubbard got often too patient.  Wonder of he adjusted because he did hit some holes much more like Rico does Sunday.

Happy for Chuba and agree that he was brought back too soon. He showed an extra gear and more confidence this past week than he has in previous weeks.

I also think Dowdle has been hampered by that groin injury from a few weeks back and isn't 100%. If Canales can continue to balance these two to keep them charged up and whoever has the hot hand, we should be good.

The Rams game was a blueprint to how we win. It's Carolina football...always has been, and always will be our calling card. DC has to stop trying to outsmart himself or reinvent the wheel.

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
