What gets this team past this?

Look where we were, look where we are. Just part of the process. Our roster still has holes, our coach is still learning, and we are young.

Learning to win is a process.

Finally, an answer I can get on board with! I kind of lean this way too. Whether we like it or not, the league has done an incredible job of creating parity. There's not a lot that separates the good teams from just the ok teams. It just comes down to the leaders and star players in the team coming up big in the biggest moments. So far, the Panthers just cannot do that consistently. Will they? Is the talent there? Is the sheer determination in the locker room? We're going to find out.

That’s cool. The NFL referees are a very powerful labor union and their contract is being renegotiated now. Wonder how that goes

I don't think any individual team stands to gain anything from that though. Will be inconsistency across the board.

Say what? They can't even get treated as full time employees. LOL

How would it even benefit them to be full time? They’d probably lose some abilities to work in other jobs with a full time clause. It’s a 50+ year old labor union and the amount they get paid compared to hours worked, they still receive retirement benefits and health insurance, and after the replacement refs fiasco last time they will probably get a sweetheart deal again. And when requires they are obviously still complicit as they have been since the beginning of the union in nudging games the way the NFL needs them to go.

I will take solace in the fact that my high school football team won the state title Friday night. First time in 47 years! Go Watauga Pioneers! You know what I saw in that push for the title? A team in the quarter and semi-finals that made crucial plays when it was needed most. That's an element this Panthers team greatly needs. The players HAVE to step up and make makes... plain and simple!

Their health insurance is only seasonal. If the union is so powerful they should be able to use their leverage to negotiate a compensation package that wouldn't have the refs continuing to work their lawyer day jobs.

Only some of them work other jobs and with the salary amounts it’s probably optional for most, and depending on where they live. The union is powerful because there is hard coded language in the contract that the refs cannot really be held accountable for mistakes, the accountability standards are vague and the refs can only be demoted for poor performance. Pat McAfee did a good segment on it. He advocates for them to be full time but who knows if the referees want it or get it.

Seems like this team cannot handle the spotlight, the pressure. Is there one thing, be it a player, a coach, etc.. What is needed most for this team to stop breaking our hearts? Is it just simply believing and trusting in each other? Panthers could certainly use a couple more pieces on defense. But what is it with this team? When everything is right in front of them they just seem to fold. Is it simply that they're just not ready?

More talent.

We're in the second year of a complete rebuild.

Big players make big plays in big games. We have good players and solid players but we don’t have game changers no matter how much some of you want them to be.

We don’t have a Steve Smith, DeAngelo Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Julius Peppers, Luke Kuechly, or Cam Newton. Those guys would take a slant to the house, strip/sack TD, pick 6, bust a 75 yard run, etc in big games and change them. We don’t have one.

We don’t have anyone who can change a game. I think we have a good core group of guys but we don’t have difference makers. I think if Dan can mix this offseason between finding those guys and just building more depth it will make a difference.

We're the same as most other teams by the end of the year...a disappointment. It's pretty amazing we've gone to 2 Superbowls. The sad fact is most other teams are in the same boat. We're never going to be the Packers and just be excellent every year. We have a chance about once a decade.
