National Attention On Bad Officiating Towards Panthers

The OPI on Tet was maddening but it's possible to say a mistake was made in the heat of the moment.  With the dead ball foul, NY Main office chimed in to tell them that it was a backwards pass but did not correct the refs by telling them we "could have done the play over" .

Brad Allen made it sound like we were offered the option and chose 2nd and 17 instead of a redo of first and ten.  And Canales didn't offer much resistance.  If he had, it would have lengthened the deliberation, NY might have determined it was too obvious a screwup and ordered the redo.

I have always been a skeptic the NFL was truly fair but it’s finally becoming common knowledge the NFL manages the games towards preferred outcomes to maximize user engagement and media consumption.

There were many instances in this game that showed how skewed the refereeing was. The refs calling the ball out of bounds on that play was insane. The OPI on T-Mac and the DPI on Nick Scott were just clear, obvious nudging calls. The OPI completely swung the momentum.  They did a terrible job hiding it in this one.

And don't forget that they called Jackson for tauting Mayfield which moved the FG from a 54 yarder to a 39 yarder while completely ignoring Tremble having a Bucs player rip his helmet off with a facemask. So talking to someone and hurting their feelings cost us 15 yards but ripping someones head off is OK.

Given they admitted they got a call wrong last week already, it will be interesting to see how they address the shitshow that was yesterday.

On this part without taking into account all that we got called wrong for I do think Jackson was dumb there. Baker was in a pretty fully upright position, Mike leaned into him and bumped him with his helmet.

Maybe that happens on other plays to skill players, but you definitely can't do that to a QB. I would've wanted that called if someone did that to Bryce for sure.

But still....we got screwed.

I have no idea what the league has against us, but it seems like they've always hated us

I don't think it's hate as much as they like to pick the winners and they like Tampa more than us.  And likely the other 30 teams. If it had been us against Venezuela, we might have avoided some of the bogus calls.

Interesting topic on the Panthers Subreddit from a lions fan pointing out how this is the same ref that botched their 2pt conversion in 2023 against the cowboys even though their Lineman clearly checked himself as an eligible receiver.  That got him and his crew banned from post-season in 2023, then he was back in the playoffs last year and botched a call in the GB playoff game vs Philly.  Really would be interested where the money lines were going into those games.

I mean Mike Jackson was a complete fuging idiot on that play. Baker Mayfield just scrambled for an easy first and MJ was talking poo in his face like he had done something. You did nothing Mike Jackson, sit the fug down and shut the fug up.
